Building Service Workers (BSW) are responsible for daily cleaning and custodial services for all academic and administrative departments on campus. Building Services provides uninterrupted custodial coverage from 6 p.m. on Sunday through 2 a.m. on Saturday along with an overnight 8-hour shift from 6 p.m. on Saturday to 2 a.m. on Sunday.
Duties for selected employees can include general cleaning, floor treatment, refuse disposal, recycling collection, event set ups, pest control, and other similar functions. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned in support of the department’s mission and goals.
Most BSW positions are full-time employment. Working hours and shifts may vary including day, midnights, weekends, and late evenings. Final shifts/locations will be discussed during interview and assigned at hire. Building Service Worker positions are held at all three campuses, Edwardsville, East St. Louis and Alton; specific departments may vary. Please be sure to indicate the campuses you would be willing to work at on your Civil Service application.
