Biomedical Equipment Technician

AAI is actively recruiting a Biomedical Equipment Technician and Medical Logistics Supply Technician to support the Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) Fort located at Sam Houston, TX. The Medical Education and Training Campus (METC) is a Tri-Service Campus and is part of the Defense Health Agency’s Education and Training purview in Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) but is not located in a Department of Defense (DoD) Military Treatment Facility. With 48 medical programs, and 16,500 graduates a year, METC is a state-of-the-art DoD healthcare education campus that trains enlisted medical personnel.

Responsibilities
BMETs are highly skilled technicians responsible for ensuring medical equipment is deemed serviceable, safe, and properly configured to meet the mission of a hospital organization. BMETs must perform and meet the following qualifications:
  • Perform scheduled maintenance inspections and performance assurance inspections on equipment to ensure safe and effective operating conditions.
  • Test and calibrate components using a variety of manuals, troubleshooting techniques, and code requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and policies.
  • Ensure documentation is complete, timely, and accurate.
  • Repair and replace complex biomedical equipment and systems.
  • Install and adjust a variety of biomedical and research equipment.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions with accuracy and precision.
  • Skilled proficiency in the use of tools and test equipment.
  • Ability to interpret technical data like electronic circuit diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Ability to solve technical and performance problems using information from a variety of sources.
  • Working knowledge of technical requirements, codes, and standards associated with the field.
  • Advanced computer skills.
  • Basic understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
Requirements
  • Formal Education - An associate degree in biomedical equipment technology or engineering is required.
  • Experience - At least two years of biomedical equipment technician experience is required.
