We are expanding our operations to include a weekend shift. This position will be a part of the weekend schedule operating Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Training and onboarding may require flexibility outside of those hours but will be discussed during hiring process.

A Brief Summary of This Position:

The Batch Plant Operator’s basic function is to set up, operator and tend machines to mix or blend materials, such as concrete, cement and aggregate.

Essential Functions:

  • Weigh and measure material, ingredients, and product to ensure conformance to requirements.
  • Start machines to mix or blend ingredients; then allow to mix for specified times.
  • Dump or pour specified amounts of materials into machinery and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Stop mixing or blending machines when specified product qualities are obtained; open valves and start pumps to transfer mixtures.
  • Examine materials, ingredients or products visually or with hands in order to ensure conformance to established standards.
  • Record operational and production data on specified forms.
  • Transfer materials, supplies, and products between work areas, using moving equipment and hand tools.
  • Tend to accessory equipment such as pumps and conveyors to move materials or ingredients through production processes.
  • Read work orders to determine production specifications and information.
  • Unload mixtures into containers or onto conveyors for further processing.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, includes clean up and wash down of both equipment and batching area.
  • Dislodge and clear jammed materials or other items from machinery and equipment, using hand tools.
  • Open valves to drain slurry from mixers into storage tanks.
  • Actively participate in department safety, demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont Safety Policy and Procedures

Other Important Details about the Role:

  • This position reports to the Plant Supervisor and has no direct reports or indirect reports
  • Must have a high awareness for the safety of other employees and machines used in the production area.
  • Ability to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions
  • Participate in LEAN and 5S projects, as well as keep immediate production area clean
  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a professional manner
  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
  • The ability to work one(1) or two (2) shifts of overtime per week
  • The ability to work in extreme temperatures with exposure to chemicals and irritating particulates
  • The ability to recognize and solve practical problems

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Basic education
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing process
  • Basic knowledge of the computer
  • Current medical examination

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Posses These Preferred Qualifications

  • Authority to operate the crane and the forklift
  • Experience in working in a similar prefabrication plant

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

  • Work on the production floor, mainly standing and walking position
