Job Description:
We are looking for Bar Apprentices who are looking to grow within the industry. This is a great opportunity for someone who is willing to learn all aspects of craft cocktails, spirits, beer and wine. Youll assist with the bar opening and closing procedures and perform various tasks behind the bar such as restocking the bar, preparing garnishes etc. If youre interested in kickstarting your career in the hospitality industry, this is your chance to get first-hand experience of how a bar operates. Ultimately, our goal as a fast-growing company is to mentor and help individuals grow within the industry.
Responsibilities:

  • Prepare batches, juices, garnishes, infusions and syrups
  • Restock the bar with straws, coasters and napkins
  • Collect and restock glassware at the bar
  • Refill liquor bottles, cheaters, juices during service
  • Refill ice bins during service
  • Tidy up tables, counters and other bar areas
  • Remove trash and wipe down scupper and verticals
  • Assist Bartenders during rush hours
  • Perform bussing responsibilities such as clearing empty cups and trash from bar top and high tops
  • Maintain overall appearance and cleanliness of bar (i.e. wipe down surfaces, push chairs and stools in, arrange drink menus
  • Help maintenance at the bar such as water levels, clearing, marking etc.
  • Perform clean-ups of spills or other customer accidents as needed
  • Assist with back of house liquor re-stocking
  • Keep beverage cooler clean and organized
  • Wash and polish glassware during service
  • Follow all opening and closing procedures during each shift

Qualifications: *

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Experience as a bar back or busser preferred
  • Basic knowledge of spirits, beer and wine
  • Fine dining experience
  • Ability to perform well under pressure
  • Detail-oriented, organized, clean
  • Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs.
  • Must have a flexible schedule (may be required to work late shifts, weekends, or holidays as needed)
  • Must be able to stand for 8 + hours daily
  • Must be able to multitask and work efficiently on a daily basis
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Team player and great communication skills
  • Tam, health, and non-gaming card if applicable
  • Legal age to serve alcoholic beverages
  • Ability to be flexible and to perform multiple tasks effectively
  • Friendly, open disposition and professional presentation
  • Open availability; must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time

Physical Requirements*:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods of time, twist at the neck and trunk, bend at the waist and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, reach overhead, above shoulders and horizontally. Employees will use hands to handle objects and tools, and operate service equipment. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40-pound objects. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employees may use vision to monitor food quality and quantity and may also order supplies, etc.

Work Conditions: May require evening and weekend hours. While performing the duties of this job, the employee generally works in an indoor front of restaurant and kitchen environment with exposure to heat from ovens, hot foods and steamers and cleaning chemicals, fumes, equipment, and metal objects. You will usually be based indoors, splitting your time between the front of the restaurant and the kitchen. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may be loud dependent on specific work site and/or equipment operation. The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
