Job Summary: The Banquet & Events Server will work to execute large group events held in our Taprooms, facilities, and offsite locations. This position will work internal meetings and VIP events, internal onsite marketing special events, and local offsite advertised marketing events. At all times, this position will ensure the highest quality standards are met and guests receive the most positive and welcoming experience.


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Specifically, the responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following activities:

  • Handle, oversee and assist with event preparation, set up, and closing, including setting up and packing away tables, tablecloths, place settings, and buffets
  • Set up or install any event specific decorations or serving stations – center pieces, marketing materials, client specific décor, beverage station, dessert station, etc.
  • Greet guests as they enter and help them find their event location, provide them with menus if applicable, say goodbye and thank you to all customers
  • Ensure the comfort of guests through answering questions on food items, beers, retail, serving food, and responding to any requests; look for ways to improve the guest experience; pay attention to the details and anticipate their needs
  • Circulate the room with trays of appetizers and beverages
  • Take guest orders and enter into POS, process POS transactions for customer payments, run food & beers to tables, wait tables, buss tables, provide needed items, and/or check on tables throughout service
  • Interface with kitchen to ensure delivery, counts, proper plating, placement, removal and replenishment of banquet food and beverage items
  • Complete normal and additional cleaning and sanitation as indicated in the COVID-19 Restaurant Safety Plan
  • Know the simple descriptions of each menu item including basic ingredients, preparation, and flowing description phrases; know and understand the fundamentals of our beers
  • Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and kept in excellent working condition through personal inspection and by following the restaurant’s preventative maintenance programs
  • Ensure safety, food quality, and beer quality is at its best when running to the table
  • Report guest opinions and/or concerns to the manager; alert manager if there are any problems; including when you are overbooked, ask for assistance so that no one gets left behind
  • Understand and maintain a working knowledge of all company and Taproom policies & procedures and comply with them including checking proper age when serving alcoholic beverages
  • Be dressed in proper uniform, organized and ready to clock in on time
  • Always be positive and proactive with the guests and co-workers; support other staff and work as a team to ensure guest satisfaction and a smooth and successful working environment; treat every guest as your own

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel and guests
  • Must be able to obtain Food Handlers Card within 30 days of hire
  • Must be able to obtain California Responsible Beverage Service certification within 60 days of hire
  • Very strong organizational and leadership skills. Ability to maintain professionalism at all times even under high volume, stressful times and situations
  • Self-starter who can set up event space to company standards with minimum supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to be a strong team player and get along well with co-workers and guests
  • Ability to manage and multitask in a fast-paced environment. Ability to give high priority to customer satisfaction. Ability to take initiative, act promptly and be proactive
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to operate the POS system to process sales transactions, and utilize HR online systems to access information and complete job-related tasks
  • Ability to read Banquet Event Orders
  • Prior experience in a fast-pasted restaurant as a server and/or experience doing above or similar duties
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally with managers, kitchen and dining room
  • Have the flexibility to work different shifts including Friday & Saturday heavy load days


Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, reach with hands and arms. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
