Autonomous Medical Devices Incorporated (AMDI) is an early-stage, California company focused on developing and manufacturing Autolabs and their associated test discs for human clinical diagnostics. Each of AMDI’s Autolabs are small, portable point-of-care diagnostics devices using breakthrough microfluidics, hardware, and data/cloud connectivity to deliver secure lab quality results in < 15 minutes. AMDI has built a world class, multi-disciplinary team of engineers, scientists, clinicians, and database experts and will launch its first Research Use Only (RUO) products in 2023 from its ISO 13485 certified 110,000 square foot facility in Santa Ana, CA.

Position Summary

AMDI is looking for an associate scientist who will be to provide assistance in performing experiments under the guidance of a Senior Scientist. The ASB will follow written procedures, demonstrate accurate documentation skills, and report results in a timely manner. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, supporting routine lab maintenance activities, and participating in staff meetings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Their duties include, but are not limited to:

• Follow and perform established experimental design protocols to obtain reproducible and reliable results with supervision
• Record and analyze experimental data
• Maintain an electronic lab notebook
• Communicate results in a clear and concise manner
• Effectively troubleshoot equipment and experimental difficulties
• Order, track, and monitor lab supplies
• Additional projects and/or duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements

• BS/BA degree in the life sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related scientific field)
• Previous experience in research or clinical laboratory
• Proficiency with software programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel
• Excellent organization and record-keeping skills and attention to detail
• Excellent time and task management skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently
• On occasion, may need to work a longer day or shift to complete an experiment or project

Desired Skills and Traits

• Prior experience in molecular biology, virology, or biochemistry
• Prior experience in PCR, Western blot, and/or ELISA
• Prior experience in tissue culture and/or protein purification

Work Environment

• May require working near blood borne pathogens
• Position may at times require the employee to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present
• Employee must perform tasks that require the use of personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses and shoes, protective clothing, and gloves, and possibly a respirator
