Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Associate Director of School Support and Service is a leadership team member on the School Support and Service Team. The Associate Director is responsible for the management and development of four members of the KIPP DC School Support and Service team and ensuring the accurate documentation and management of matters related to compliance with a full spectrum of federal and state requirements at the four campuses they oversee. As a leadership team member, they will partner closely with other regional teams to coordinate compliance efforts and communicate updates on behalf of the team. This position is largely an in-person role, an exempt position, and reports to the Managing Director.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

People Management - 40%

  • Take on top-to-bottom management responsibilities of four School Support and Service Team members, including:
    • Onboarding team members to the role and organization
    • Ongoing support of individual growth and development through coaching support for all team members including observation, feedback and performance review processes
    • Leading and hosting professional development and regular team meetings to align team members and introduce cross sector work and updates
    • Support and guide Compliance Manager relationships with school leaders and families as needed


Leadership on the School Support Team - 30%

  • Collaborate with the Managing Director, health team and other compliance team leaders, on team initiatives, including revising policies and protocols that impact the compliance team workstream and ensuring all campuses are in compliance with enrollment, health and various other named requirements
  • Represent compliance work stream and collaborate with, other functional leaders and teams, particularly SIS, data, communication and academic teams namely office managers and school leaders
  • Ongoing quality control of documentation for enrollment, immunization and health purposes to ensure efficacy to OSSE’s requirements
  • Share organizational, compliance and audit updates and next steps with managers so that they can incorporate it into their work, for example, OSSE policy updates that will be important for school leaders or families to understand
  • Lead by example to create and reinforce positive and productive team culture including supporting and covering team members and a regular school visit schedule – and to center students and families in these processes


Enrollment Support and Audit Preparation and Support - 30%

  • Collaborate with the Managing Director to manage enrollment review workflow across Manager team
  • Act as the point of contact for My School DC to resolve issues and respond to enrollment audit and Child Count Application data to ensure accuracy
  • Ensure team members are meeting all deadlines for OSSE’s annual enrollment audit by monitoring workflow in Enrollment Audit and Child Count Application
  • Perform internal quality control checks of staff content knowledge through mystery calls and enrollment documents throughout the enrollment process and leading up to the audit including accuracy of rosters on KIPP and OSSE rosters
  • Work with OSSE to manage requests for residency investigations and exclusions, schedule audit and reserve workspace for auditing team
  • Manage internal transfers and emergency circumstances alongside academic team
  • Support the student recruitment team in implementing new strategies to increase enrollment rates and boost efficiency of enrollment process for parents and staff

LEA Test Integrity Coordination - 10%

  • Ensure each elementary and middle school is staffed with a School Test Integrity Coordinator
  • Design test administration protocols that align with OSSE’s test integrity regulations
  • Set up and manage backend systems in online testing platform
  • Develop test security training professional development to administer to teachers and school staff
  • Document all testing irregularities and report out to OSSE as needed
  • Collaborate with Student Support Services Team to ensure accommodations are being administered properly
  • Conduct walkthroughs and observations throughout the testing window to ensure testing protocols are being upheld with fidelity
  • Support testing process with ad hoc needs, supporting test integrity and providing solutions

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • At least 5-7 years of compliance related experience required, with three of those years involving work with schools and principals
  • At least 2 years of people management experience with evidence of development and coaching responsibilities required
  • Comfort working flexibly across the eight KIPP DC school campuses, typically at a different campus or the Headquarters office each day of the week
  • Documented ability to manage complex projects with competing timelines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Outstanding project management and organizational skills, and extraordinary attention to detail
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills
  • Flexibility, tenacity, ability to produce high-quality work, resourcefulness, and willingness to work well with a team
  • Mastery of Google Suite, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • Experience with PowerSchool is a plus
  • Passion for education reform and the belief that every child can succeed

BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION

KIPP DC offers an extremely competitive compensation and benefits package:

  • The anticipated starting salary for this position is $84,179-$103,984. At KIPP DC we strive for clarity, equity, and to be highly competitive. When determining salaries we look at benchmarks in the education and non-profit sector.
  • KIPP DC offers a robust benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurances; various voluntary benefits; and employer paid benefits such as short term disability, long term disability, life insurance, and a membership to One Medical.
  • KIPP DC also offers a 403(b) retirement account with a 3% employer contribution and a 3% match with vesting after three years.
  • Currently, individuals in this role have up to 15 paid time off days, up to 10 paid sick days, and 12 paid holidays. This is subject to change and your exact schedule will be shared in your offer letter.

As a headquarters team that is focused on being responsive to our schools and meeting the needs of our students and families, we approach our work in a way that reflects these priorities. Schools operate in person and our students and families rely on us for in-person support, and this position will regularly provide on-site support to school teams, frequently partner with other headquarters teams, or regularly work in multiple locations. Because of the nature of the work, this role allows for occasional flexibility. This role will have approximately 20% flexibility to work remotely.
