The Application Consultant will support pharmacy services applications and interfaces managed by the Ancillary Systems Development Team. The Application Consultant will work under the direction of the Lead Application Consultant and Manager to support pharmacy services for a multiple hospital and inpatient rehabilitation hospital setting. They are responsible for collecting, documenting, analyzing, verifying and communicating requirements for approved projects to senior and lead staff, management and project team members. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and have a passion to grow their skill sets in support, analysis, technical systems and reporting.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist with research and review of the projects’ scope in order to understand why the project has been initiated.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge with IS methodologies and processes (i.e. Project Life Cycle, System Development Life Cycle and IS Change Management process).
  • Gather detailed requirements and verify with senior and/or lead staff that requirements completely define the project.
  • Document and update requirements.
  • Create basic models and user prototype interfaces to identify and validate business processes and solutions when appropriate.
  • Communicate requirements with direction and guidance from senior, lead staff, and/or manager.
  • Support business/functional requirement review, approval, and sign-off sessions.
  • Obtain recommendations and results with estimated/actual costs and benefits from senior and/or lead staff.
  • Prepare and assist senior and lead staff with delivery of effective presentations to upper management.
  • Identify solutions to the development and technical team based on approved business and functional requirements.
  • Participate in technical requirements and design sessions.
  • Assist with end-user testing responsibilities and tasks with direction from senior, lead staff, manager, and/or project manager.
  • Responsible for maintaining the Ticket system and other second level support functions as assigned by senior, lead staff, and/or manager.
  • Support communication activities with end-user training for system implementation.
  • Work with user community and vendors to meet implementation timelines.
  • Support system implementations.
Tasks:
  • Provide Tier 2 Support for pharmacy applications including interfaces, automated dispensing applications (Pyxis 4000, Pyxis ES, Pyxis CII Safe, MedDispense and Omnicell), scanning, as well as pharmacy label and report printing.
  • Support pharmacy integration with our Electronic Medical Record (ProTouch and myAvatar) and M*Modal Dictation/Transcription applications.
  • Support Delegate dietary application as well.
  • Serve as liaison between application vendors, users, business and Lifepoint and ScionHealth/Kindred internal development and technical teams.
  • Assist with RxConnect, Pyxis ES and CIISafe Implementations.
  • Perform configuration changes in applications and support upgrades.
  • Perform configuration setup for new hospital implementations for Pharmacy Services.
  • Develop and execute test plans and test new or modified software for reliability and accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot and implement new pharmacy ADM (automated dispensing devices) interfaces.
  • Perform daily software maintenance tasks.
  • Provide On-Call/After Hours Support for pharmacy and radiology applications on a rotating basis with other Team Members.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong working knowledge and experience with computer systems, applications, development, and testing methodologies as they relate to the business areas being supported.
  • Has successfully participated in project teams with medium to large business initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of industry standard methodologies and best practices (i.e. Project Life Cycle and System Development Life Cycle).
  • General business knowledge of area being supported.
  • Experienced in incorporating successful interviewing, facilitation, and documentation techniques within a project.
  • Experienced with writing, executing and reviewing test cases.
  • Experienced with supporting HL7 interface messaging.
  • Strong Business Analyst skills.
  • Able to work with minimal direction and guidance from project lead, senior and lead staff and manager.

Qualifications:
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree or other equivalent clinical degree preferred; Combination of relevant experience and education will be considered.
  • Minimum 2 years clinical systems project management, analysis, installation, implementation, development or QA experience required.
  • Strong Business Analyst skills required. Business Analyst certification recommended.
  • Pharmacy experience in a hospital setting strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience with computer systems, applications, development, and testing methodologies as they relate to the business areas being supported.
Expectations
  • Potential travel 20% of the time as needed
  • Position may at times require extended or irregular hours outside of traditional office hours to support clients and projects across multiple time zones and any required travel
