Alaska Overview

ConocoPhillips is Alaska’s largest crude oil producer and largest owner of exploration leases, with approximately 1.6 million net undeveloped acres at year-end 2021. The company produced an average of 197 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2021. ConocoPhillips has major ownership interests in two of North America’s largest oil fields, both located on Alaska’s North Slope—Kuparuk, which the company operates, and Prudhoe Bay. Additionally, ConocoPhillips operates the Alpine Field located on the Western North Slope. The company has an ownership interest in the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) and owns/operates the Polar Tankers fleet.

Description

The North Slope Site Support team provides accurate and timely support and problem resolution for our internal customers. This technical role requires strong troubleshooting and effective communication skills. This role consists of performing routine tasks and resolving complex and everyday service requests related to PCs, servers, networks, hardware and software problems and malfunctions. The ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and multitask is a must. Given the technical nature of the team and the broad range of skills needed, we require analysts be self-starters that can make basic decisions and work on specific technical tasks with little or no supervision.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required with the ability to perform well in a collaborative team environment. Strong generalist skill sets with advanced troubleshooting abilities required. Typically requires 5+ years of experience. Intermediate level.

This position will primarily work a rotational schedule on the North Slope, Alaska.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Provide deskside and remote support for Personal Computing environments for ConocoPhillips’ North Slope, Alaska remote field location
  • Perform technical support, assembly, installation, repairs, and moving of computers, printers, and peripheral hardware assemblies, and maintain hardware inventories for on-site and remote computer support to end users
  • Handling technically complex desktop support issues
  • Work independently and partner with multiple IT support team personnel in Alaska, Bartlesville, and Houston to provide seamless support to users
  • Must be customer-focused, and able to easily explain issues that customers might have with their PC
  • Provides training and consultation to end users
  • Provides expertise in the selection of standard hardware and software solutions to maximize efficiency and meet customer needs
  • Certified warranty and non- warranty repair of Dell computers
  • Windows Operating Systems support
  • Office 365 product support including Outlook, Teams and, OneDrive

Qualifications


Basic/Required:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as a permanent resident, refugee or asylee
  • Current North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC)
  • Current/valid Driver’s License
  • 5+ years of direct experience in troubleshooting Microsoft Windows Operating Systems
  • 5+ years of troubleshooting, analyzing, and resolving complex issues
  • 3+ years of direct experience supporting MS Office Suites, Office 365, One Drive, networking, TCP/IP, and Active Directory
  • 3+ years working at a remote North Slope, Alaska location
  • Physical requirements; willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to:
    • Safely perform physical labor including climbing ladders/stairs, walking, standing, stooping, sitting, lift and carry material up to 30lbs
    • Safely bend, stoop, crawl under tables/desks to connect needed wiring.
    • Drive to field work sites up to 50% of the time
    • Work outside in harsh weather conditions
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to work in a remote work location on North Slope, Alaska, subject to harsh weather conditions, on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off work schedule

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of a broad range of technologies including WAN/LAN, COE Desktop, Core Business Applications and Desktop Products
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with direct customer interaction
  • Ability to work well with local and global IT teams
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Willingness to continually learn and champion change
