This position consists of the responsibilities of dispatching and maintaining communication with each officer in the field. You are also responsible for receiving and dispatching calls for all code enforcement related complaints. Individual will assist in administrative duties for the Director when needed.

1. Customer Complaint Service – This position receives inbound calls from citizens anywhere in the County concerning animal enforcement, litter enforcement, property nuisance enforcement, zoning enforcement and business or mobile home registration enforcement complaints. The incumbent takes all pertinent information regarding location, the complaint and issue, and name and address where available, and contact information of the caller from multiple call lines. The incumbent determines whether or not someone needs to be dispatched immediately based upon the priority of the call, and if so, which unit to dispatch based upon current location, which unit is covering that area of the County, or who is available. The incumbent follows up to be certain the call was handled as planned.

2. Documentation – After complaints are received and units dispatched if needed, the incumbent enters the information into the database for future follow up on these cases. There may also be other databases maintained, such as PetPoint, Access, GIS based software, Excel Spreadsheets, and department calendar.

3. Field Monitoring – For the safety of all officers, the dispatcher will check in with everyone periodically when on calls, to be certain all are safe.

4. Administrative duties – Filing, case research, procurement reservations for purchase orders, data entry, and other duties as assigned.

It is helpful for the Dispatcher to have a working knowledge of the County Codes and penalties under the laws in order to understand priorities or complaints as they are received.

This position operates with limited supervision. The challenges of this position are being able to prioritize the calls based upon limited information, multitasking and being able to dispatch someone in a timely manner.

REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Level of Job-Related Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Criminal Justice experience / legal work a plus.

Minimum Amount of Job-Related Experience:
2-3 years in telecommunications.

Minimum Level of any Required Qualifications, Licenses, Certificates, Registrations, or any Relevant Knowledge, Job Skill or Equivalent Experience:
NCIC Security Awareness Certification; ability to remain calm under a variety of circumstances; multitasking. This job has specific physical requirements such as lifting, driving, ability to travel, etc. ability to handle emergencies

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $36,040.95 per year
