Job Summary
This position is responsible for providing behavioral health services to youth and young adult clients experiencing homelessness. This position will provide services to minor youth residing at the LOFT and work with the Youth Engagement Team in an outreach capacity.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provide regular office hours at the LOFT.
  • Provide behavioral health services through street outreach and collaboration with Youth Engagement Team and other community providers and partners.
  • Provide behavioral health services through brief interventions and time-limited regular services. This will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
  • Record required statistics. Practice timely and complete file management.
  • Prepare intake evaluations and develop individualized service plans with input from consumers seeking behavioral health services and their families and within time limits specified by the clinical supervisor or as may be specified by a Mental Health Services Agreement.
  • Provide behavioral health services which promote growth, improve functioning, and keep consumers from de-compensating.
  • Document therapy, case management, and care coordination services provided to consumers and progress toward goals identified in service plans.
  • Coordinate with the CCEW Director of Community Behavioral Health Services for clinical supervision, training, and peer consultation.
  • Provide behavioral health services that will assist youth and young adults in addressing behavioral health needs and reduce barriers in obtaining and maintaining stable housing.
  • May implement mechanisms that promote rapid and successful reintegration of consumers back into the community from psychiatric hospitals and long-term psychiatric placements, including participating with the hospital inpatient teams in treatment and discharge planning.
  • Provide information and referrals and link consumers with community resources as needed.
  • May assist enrolled consumers in obtaining state and federal assistance for which they may be entitled.
  • Provide skills training and psychoeducation to improve consumers and their families supports/understanding and management of psychiatric conditions.
  • Follow all COA standards of care for all consumers.
  • Integrate the use of Evidence-Based mental health practices into consumer treatment modalities.
  • Make collateral contacts and consult other professionals to ensure maximum service benefits for participants.
  • Work with LOFT staff, Youth Engagement Team, and CCWW Regional Program Support Coordinator to schedule consumer appointments, maintain consumer files, and gather required statistics.
  • Facilitate community case conferencing for youth and young adults experiencing homelessness in accordance with community adopted standards and in collaboration with community partners.
  • As a mandated reporter, follows all procedures outlined in agency policies and procedures to report to the proper agency when there is suspicion and/or confirmation that a child or adult has been a victim of abuse or neglect
  • Uses appropriate administrative, fiscal, physical, and technical safeguards to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and security of CCEW client protected health information (PHI). Per regulations outlined in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
  • Will regularly utilize all forms of communication (email, text, phone, etc.) and database practice necessary for this position and as directed by your supervisor.
  • Adhere to the tenets of Catholic Social Teaching and Catholic Doctrine in the provision of services to consumers.
  • Perform as a team member to assure that productivity outcome measures are achieved.
  • Perform related functions necessary to support the mission and core values of Catholic Charities.

Job Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the minimum qualifications listed below. These qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform this job.


Education/Experience:
to perform this job successfully, an individual must have a MSW or equivalent degree from an accredited academic institution. Knowledge of community services preferred. Two years experience in the direct treatment of mentally ill persons preferred. Experience working with issues of mental health and poverty preferred. This counseling position will require the individual to take classes, workshops, and other training to strengthen their skills and knowledge in the addiction/chemical dependency area.


Certificates/Licenses:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a valid Driver’s License and ability to drive for work use. Preference will be given to candidates who hold Washington State Licensure as a Mental Health Counselor, Social Worker, or Marriage and Family Therapist under Washington Administrative Code. Successfully pass background check applicable to position.

Preference for individuals fluent in the Spanish language, including an ability to speak, read, write, and understand at a high level of fluency.
