BDG is seeking a Writer & Director, Branded Video to join the video team.

The Writer & Director, Branded Video will be instrumental in helping us to conceive and execute everything from scripted comedy, to emotional unscripted, to exciting new video formats to serve as proof of concept for our clients. The role will span from pre-sale RFP response, to post-sale scripting and on-set directing, to overseeing post production.

You’ll work with Marketing to craft stellar proposals to RFPs, and work with Producers to see the vision through to delivery. On a day-to-day basis, you’ll attend brainstorms, write up concepts, create storyboards, moodboards, scripts and treatments, attend in-person video shoots, ideate built-if-sold video series concepts, and oversee the creative development of new pilots and series.

The ideal candidate has a strong comedic background and has worked across lifestyle and culture - spanning entertainment, parenting, health, food, travel, tech and auto. You should have excellent writing skills, a strong visual eye, and proven work ideally in advertising/ branded video. You should have a strong production background and be comfortable leading a production on set and communicating with clients throughout the process. This role will report into the Executive Creative Director of Scripted Video.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in brainstorms to develop branded video strategy and concepts in response to RFPs
  • Deliver write-ups and visual materials to convey video series ideas
  • Create strong working relationships across internal departments from Marketing, Sales, Account Management, Production, and Post Production
  • Ideate new built-if-sold series and assist on the creation of pilots and proof of concept work
  • Create strong comedic scripts that speak to our audience while meeting our client’s needs
  • Collaborate with producers to ensure strong creative through production
  • Lead on-set productions with a positive attitude with the ability to work with a variety of talent from adults to children and pets.
  • Work with designers and video editors to execute vision through post production
  • Stay abreast of content and technology trends in the entertainment, video production and motion graphic communities, and suggest new ways to implement these

Requirements

  • At least 3-4 years working in a creative/video role (ideal candidate has been directly responsible for developing co-branded video creative at a media company, agency, production company or publisher)
  • A background in comedy, sketch or improv
  • Proven ability developing video creative is a must: creating scripts/treatments, ability to creatively pivot on shoots, working with art directors and other crew to execute vision
  • A track record of proven work across platforms and formats (creating visual mood boards, successful videos on various platforms, etc.)
  • Must be able to present creative ideas with confidence to a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent project management skills — you should be able to work on multiple campaigns at any given time and be able to manage your own time and schedule to ensure all deadlines are hit.
  • Expertise in the lifestyle space - keeps up with trends, video trends and talent
  • Salary Range: $72,500 - $78,000
