The Resiliency programming at World Relief includes a vibrant community garden. The Community Garden Specialist will help coordinate and facilitate a variety of learning opportunities for refugee and immigrant gardeners by utilizing resources, educators, and hands-on classes from a sources such as Tilth Alliance, WSU extension, King Conservation District, and others. Additionally, this member will actively assist in upkeeping the 1.5-acre garden area through hands-on maintenance & coordinating volunteer events for our food forest, raingardens, restoration areas and community harvest plots. The member will assess each gardener/gardening family at the beginning and at the end of the growing season to measure change in food access, food security, community engagement, and mental health outcomes using tools already developed. The member will actively build relationships with gardeners to better learn ways to meet needs and coordinate resources.

From the time of arrival to the first job to citizenship and beyond, the World Relief community is committed to providing wrap around services that consider the holistic needs of the immigrant community. AmeriCorps members serving at World Relief Western Washington play valuable roles on our English, Economic Empowerment, Health & Wellness, Outreach, and Resiliency teams by enhancing our ability to provide robust and tailored services to our participants and to provide expanded support and training to our volunteers. This particular AmeriCorps member will serve alongside our Resiliency team as they empower participants to multiply their strengths and contribute to the community. All AmeriCorps positions are contingent on funding. This position is open until filled.

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Pay: $2,785.90 per month
