Position Summary: Boisset Collection is an independent, family-owned wine company with fast-paced and ever-growing entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for the good life. The Wine Director position is essential to continuing the accelerated growth of the Boisset Collection portfolio of brands and responsible for building and leading an effective sales strategy for Oakville Grocery (Healdsburg and Napa), Oakville Wine Merchant (Healdsburg and Napa) and the Calistoga Depot along with potential new Boisset destinations while maintaining company goals and vision.

Essential Functions:

Create and Curate Wine List and Sales Plan for the multiple locations

  • Source relevant and intriguing international and local wines that speak to the vision of the programs as being the best representations of their respective regions.

Lead all wine retail teams at the Grocery and The Calistoga Depot, and Tasting Room teams at Oakville Wine Merchant

  • Provide consistent leadership and oversight to achieve Wine Sales goals (retail, tasting room, web and phone).
  • Deliver world class High Touch Hospitality to each and every guest.
  • Train staff on wine list and key selling points of each wine and their contribution to company goals and KPIs.
  • Create a fluid customer experience that encourages customers and employees to interact and have open and educated conversations about wine in a comfortable environment.

Build and Lead Development, Sales, Pricing and Promotional strategies:

  • Responsible for development of the portfolio across the multiple properties.
  • Oversight of plan and product placement to effectively achieve program goals.
  • Ensure an intriguing selection of wines and spirits while maintaining competitive market pricing.
  • Establish focused sales goals with training for department employees.
  • Oversight of sales plan and wine program annual goals.
  • Management of blended margin and profit growth.
  • Creation and management of lead-time purchasing plan to effectively manage inventory and product selection.

Maintain and Grow Strategic Partnerships

  • Work with highly sought-after brands for allocations, purchase agreements, and effective product placements.
  • Discover new and relevant products that will benefit all programs.
  • Establish more direct relationships with new vendors, while continuing to strengthen existing relationships.

Web Retail Business

  • Further develop and enhance e-Commerce and Retail strategy.
  • Create and manage email marketing program that effectively showcases products.
  • Leverage best-in-class web-optimization to grow business through online channels.
  • Enhance and improve current distribution and shipping channels.
  • Maintain high-margin selections throughout while maintaining relevancy in product and competitive online pricing.

Additional Functions:

 Comply with all company safety policies, practices, and procedures. Participate in safety training and report all unsafe conditions or work practices.

 Participate in team efforts and perform additional duties as needed.

Schedule and Travel Requirements

 Variable schedule: This position can expect 5-8 hours daily on Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

Necessary Skills:

Language: Ability to speak and understand basic English required for all positions.

 Ability to read, analyze, and interpret reports, financial reports, legal documents, and policies and procedures. Ability to write detailed reports and compile supporting data. Ability to effectively present information to management, clients, outside consultants, and other business contacts, and to facilitate meetings or training sessions as needed.

Math:

 Ability to calculate items such as discounts, commissions, simple interest, percentages, areas, circumference, and volume. Ability to understand fractions, ratios, and proportions. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Logic:

 Ability to apply common sense understanding to a variety of tasks and duties. Ability to adapt to minor changes in routine, solve basic problems and work with moderate supervision.

Computer:

 Possess advanced intermediate computer skills which can include e-mail, internet, word processing, spreadsheet, database activity, graphic arts and/or publishing, intranet systems, and basic programming.

Education, Experience, Certificates, Licenses:

 Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a 4-year college or university; or 12-24 months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 Current, valid Driver’s License, insurable driving record, and proof of current automobile insurance required.

Physical Requirements:

 Heavy physical activity performing regular strenuous activities, including standing, walking, climbing, reaching, carrying, pushing, pulling, squatting, and other motions. Stability and balance adequate for elevated and/or narrow work areas. Requires lifting and moving objects up to 50 lbs. in weight independently, and up to 100 lbs. or more with assistance. Manual dexterity sufficient to reach, grasp, hold, handle items, and work with the fingers, wrists, elbows, and shoulders. Clear vision (close and distant), peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to focus. Hearing adequate for working safely around machinery, vehicles, and other equipment.

Work Environment

 Primarily in a well-lighted, heated, and/or air-conditioned indoor setting with adequate ventilation. Periods are required in an un-heated indoor setting (wine cellar) with changing conditions. Short periods outdoors while conducting tours or moving between buildings. Moderate noise levels typical of public space: music sound system, public conversations, telephones/cell phones, large groups.
