WIC Nutritionist/Certifying Authority (CA) Job at BRAZOS VALLEY COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS
We are looking for a candidate to provide direct and indirect nutritional services to clients of the Brazos Valley Women, Infant & Children Program (WIC). The WIC Nutritionist/Certifying Authority (CA) will be responsible for conducting and documenting any participant-centered nutrition assessments to determine program eligibility. As well as providing nutritional counseling including breastfeeding counseling, prescribing nutrition supplemental food packages to best meet the individual dietary needs of eligible participants. This individual may also assist Outreach/NE Coordinator and QA Coordinator roles as needed. Ability to work with a diverse population, establish an effective working relationship with individuals and groups.
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition or related field with at least 12 hours in nutrition as required by the State Agency.
- Two years previous work experience within the WIC Program and certification as a WIC Certified Specialist through Texas WIC preferred.
- Must complete and maintain Texas Breastfeeding Educator requirements (per WIC Guidelines)
- A valid Texas Driver License is required.
- Must be comfortable performing anthropometric measures and finger sticks, maintaining client confidentiality records and speaking in one on one/group settings on Nutritional Education.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as computer literacy required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $42,640.00 - $47,840.00 per year
