GMR is currently hiring for a Whiskey Category Educator to join our team! Under the direction of the GMR Account Supervisor and the Client, the Whiskey Category Educator will serve as a brand representative for trade education, relationship-building, and consumer-driven events for all whiskey-based Proximo Spirits brands - premium brands with a deep respect for craft and connoisseurship.

The ideal Whiskey Category Educator is a whiskey enthusiast who is engaging, charismatic, professional, polished, and articulate candidate with a strong connection to their market, a robust social media presence, and extensive experience in and knowledge of the bartending and mixology community.

This is a full-time, salaried position that requires full and open availability, as 50% of obligations will take place during normal business hours, while the other 50% will require evening and weekend work. Benefits include mileage reimbursement, a monthly cell phone stipend, and 10 accrued days of PTO per calendar year. This position will include travel outside of the market (within the US) upon request, not to exceed 20%, as well as brand and product training as needed.

YOUR IMPACT //

  • Manage an assigned key account list consisting of 50 influential accounts via education, brand building activities and relationship management.
  • Represent the brand at key marketing and promotional events (ex. whiskey tastings, charity events, sales meetings, etc.).
  • Educate and reinforce brand attributes with key distributor partners of the Proximo Spirits whiskey portfolio.
  • Educate sampling staff/trade on the featured brands via category knowledge, brand touchpoints, production processes, and taste profiles.
  • Curate and execute relevant brand programming based on key brand initiatives and milestones to keep educational content dynamic and engaging with the target audience.
  • Answer consumer and trade questions while building their base of whiskey category knowledge.
  • Liaise between brand, sales, trade marketing and target accounts to ensure program sell-in and executions meet brand quality standards.
  • Provide consistent feedback on programming metrics, competitive activity, in-market best practice, success highlights and brand opportunities.
  • Complete administrate requests in a timely manner, including but not limited to; monthly recaps, expense reports, time reporting, bi-weekly team call participation, etc.

YOUR EXPERIENCE //

Required:

  • Demonstrated experience in the spirits industry, marketing, field sales, bartending, mixology, event execution, brand education, or other related fields.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of whiskey categories.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and public speaking skills.
  • Strong social media presence and following with the ability to create engaging content.
  • Working knowledge of computers with average to above average skills in Windows, PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Email.
  • Ability to learn new computer programs quickly and efficiently.
  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Reliable transportation to travel to surrounding markets and make in-market visits while transporting program materials (liquor, giveaways, etc.).
  • Ability to perform physically demanding duties, including but not limited to assembling and disassembling objects, and the use of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, and reach above shoulders, kneel, stoop or bend at the waist.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, touch objects or controls, and talk or hear.
  • Close vision.
  • Ability to lift 50-100 pounds.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated experience with liquor sales, bartending, and fine dining.
