The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Warrior Research Manager manages and leads the warrior research team in support of organizational priorities. This includes managing multiple simultaneous projects in the warrior research portfolio and leading research teammates. Management of this portfolio includes overseeing the elements (design, implementation, analysis, and publication and dissemination) of WWP’s Annual Warrior Survey- the largest, most comprehensive study of injured post-9/11 veterans.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage the day-to-day implementation of warrior research strategy which influences how WWP identifies, develops, and implements WWP research priorities, publication and dissemination of research, and collaborative research efforts.
  • Manage the warrior research teammates, mentoring them and developing their technical and soft skills and abilities. Provide guidance and support resources to ensure on-time project execution and achievement of expected performance standards.
  • Build and maintain productive and collaborative business relationships with stakeholders across the organization and serve as trusted partner to the program teams. Ensure a warrior-centric philosophy is demonstrated throughout the team.
  • Develop and execute annual operational plan, ensuring adequate reporting on progress of efforts and that research projects are executed within scope, on time, and within budget. This includes liaising with WWP procurement team, IT team, accounting services, and third-party vendors to ensure compliance with organization policies and completion of scoped contract work.
  • Oversee routine reporting and analytics prepared by the warrior research team. Ensure rigor, accuracy, and consistency of analytic methods and data reporting. Perform quality assurance on the data and oversee quality control to ensure data, deliverables, processes, and output are accurate, logical, and high quality.
  • Provides consultation to internal/external stakeholders and collaborators on warrior research portfolio, research methodology, and research strategy.
  • Oversee all aspects of research data including collection, cleaning, analysis, and visualization of data ensuring that findings are accurate, relevant, and understandable/ accessible to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate publication and dissemination at scale, e.g., via meetings, print and digital materials, for a variety of audiences. Inform business decisions and communicate research clearly. Collaborate with marketing, communications, and program leadership as needed.
  • Serve as liaison between leadership and warrior research and understand and explain organizational priorities and direction and translate into actions and processes to support goals attainment.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for strategies, tactics, and tools to generate efficiency and consistency among the warrior research team.
  • Foster a collaborative and cohesive internal research team who works together to meet organizational objectives and share learnings and best practices.

  • Working understanding of best practices to collect, store, manage, share, and use data.
  • Demonstrated working understanding of research methods, protocols, and reporting.
  • Working knowledge of survey development and implementation.
  • Strong analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to identify problems, analyze information, evaluate results, and solve problems using the most effective solutions.

EXPERIENCE
Requirements
  • Five years of experience in social or behavioral research.
  • Five years of experience sharing data via meetings, print and digital materials, and communicating data results to executive leadership.
  • Three years of staff management experience. Successful completion of WWP EDLP may be substituted for management experience requirements.
Preferences
  • Three years of experience in a non-profit environment or working with military or veterans organizations.
  • Three years of experience in data analytics performing statistical tests on data sets using SPSS, SAS, R, or other statistical software.
EDUCATION
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree. Equivalent combination of education, experience, training, and certification may be considered in lieu of degree.
Preferences
  • Master's degree in business, public health, accounting, economics, finance, data analytics, or comparable program.
