Position Summary

A leading global supply chain management company of agriculture commodities for feed and fiber is seeking a self-motivated individual for a position on our Desoto Warehouse team located in Olive Branch, Mississippi. The successful candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking. This role will report to the Cotton Warehouse Manager.

This position is to assist the warehouse supervisors and manager in the day-to-day business operations of handling cotton bales, which includes but is not limited to loading, unloading, breaking out, setting back, and relocating cotton bales using forklifts. This position will also supervise work crews of two or more employees on a regular basis.

Position Responsibilities

  • Ensure all bales are received and accurately stored in warehouse locations as per location plans and the Cotton Warehouse System.
  • Ensure all shipments are ready on time to be loaded.
  • Report any damage or quality issues of cotton bales at time of receiving.
  • Sample or weigh bales at time of receipt, compare with gin sheet, and report any discrepancies.
  • Inspect and repair any damaged bales before shipment.
  • Follow scheduling times set forth and report any problems immediately in meeting these shipping schedules.
  • Manage and lead warehouse personnel effectively per company policies to gain the best efficiencies within the operation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Report all accidents, incidents, building issues and safety concerns.
  • Follow and enforce all HR related policies and procedures communicating potential issues immediately to the supervisor or manager.
  • Ensure a workplace free from harassment of discrimination, notifying the supervisor or manager of any issues or potential issues immediately.
  • Communicate with supervisor or manager concerning all issues, such as staffing, work procedures, security, or site issues.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience in forklift operation, understanding the safety issues involved.
  • Cotton industry experience is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, communicating and supervising employees.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, balance, kneel, hear, smell, drive, and lift.
  • Ability to use hands, feet, and arms to operate machinery.
  • Ability to comprehend numbers and read.
  • Ability to work in rainy, dusty, cold, hot, windy, or loud environments.
