SUMMARY

Responsible for providing executive-level guidance for internal controls related to all external and internal financial reporting activities for all America's Region business entities. Oversees the strategy development of sound internal controls, systems, and procedures. Works closely with the Regional Presidents, Regional Finance, Regional Internal Controls, process owners and other Regional stakeholder teams in support of the company's internal controls and execution of the company standard SOX. JSOX program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Oversee the execution of the region's SOX compliance program while ensuring compliance with regulatory rules and deadlines.
  • Determine the scope of the annual SOX assessment process, ensuring adequate coverage by regional companies.
  • Lead the design of internal control processes in the region, to ensure proper testing, strong maintenance and a high level of documentation quality.
  • Monitor changing business environment for themes and trends that may impact the internal controls in the region.
  • Oversee IC leaders of each regional company and external auditors, internal auditors and process owners on all matters related to SOX compliance, including evaluation and resolution of identified control deficiencies.
  • Assess of the effectiveness of internal controls region and recommend changes and adjustments to address.
  • Assure the proper assignment of key point of contact for the external auditors on audit planning for group, statutory and other audits.
  • Assure that each company effectively:
    • Manages entire SOX testing and ensures testing results are appropriately documented.
    • Plans, implements, coordinates, and executes all phases of SOX compliance.
    • Maintains accurate documentation.
    • Ensures clear, concise, actionable, and practical observations and recommendations.
    • Coordinates with and supports internal and external auditors on the annual SOX testing plan
    • Assists in control deficiency analysis and development of remediation plans (including root cause analysis).
    • Maintain awareness of current and emerging issues related to internal controls and internal audit, including but not limited to, IT, e-business, regulatory and accounting changes, etc.
    • Serves as a member of the Americas Regional Team

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Demonstrated ability to process detailed information and large volumes of detail with precision. Ability to review operations and financial data; summarize the data and key points to understand and identify future strategic opportunities based on the data.
  • Strong project management and organization skills to create and efficiently implement scalable solutions to complex business problems.
  • Deep understanding of business processes and financials.
  • Strong relationship management, change management and influencing skills with people from different cultural backgrounds.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with experience motivating and influencing customers and internal staff.
  • Ability to effectively summarize and present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, or the public.
  • Ability to reconcile external and internal data sources.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office software, Excel, MRP/ERP systems, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) technology, and reporting tools.
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, including the ability to perform detailed analytical tasks.
  • Strong knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley, JSox,US GAAP, COSO, PCAOB Auditing Standards or other regional standards required in the Americas

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in business or a related field and ten years' experience in business development and project management for a manufacturing, distribution, or supply chain management company. MBA preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Typically works in an office environment where there is no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
  • Worker occasionally accomplishes tasks in manufacturing, warehouse, and/or supporting areas where there is exposure to vibrations and moderate-to-loud noises. When in these areas, worker must be aware of and exercise caution around hazardous conditions such as electricity, moving equipment, moving parts, refrigerants, chemicals, torches, solvents, dust, dirt, fumes, and contaminants.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required of job when worker is in the manufacturing, warehouse, and/or supporting areas. PPE includes but is not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety toed footwear.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work involves light physical exertion that could involve carrying or moving materials and equipment weighing up to 20 lbs.
  • View a computer monitor and type for extended periods of time.
  • Talk on phone or use headset for extended periods of time.
  • Sit for extended periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers.
  • Close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer monitor; and/or extensive reading.
  • Communicate with others to exchange information.
  • When travel is required, visual acuity to operate motor vehicle in daytime and nighttime.
