Duties and Responsibilities
The Visitation Service Director (VSD) serves as a member of a collaborative team establishing the OVW Justice for Families (JFF) funded supervised visitation and safe exchange center at Loyola University (LSVC). The LSVC is focused on providing supervised visitation and safe exchange services between parents for children of victims of domestic violence in Cook County.
The VSD will engage in the collaborative development of all policy/ procedures for the operations of the center and ensure the LSVC utilizes best practice standards as outlined in the JFF programs’ guiding principles. The VSD will engage in ongoing community collaboration and engage in the plans for sustainability of the center within the Loyola University.
The VSD will possess an understanding of intimate partner violence, culture, victim’s needs, and confidentiality, ensuring informed delivery of services to victims of domestic violence, their children, as well as those who have caused harm. The VSD will help ensure the center is developed using a human-centered, intersectionality approach, understanding this work as part of a social justice response to families and community.
The VSD will help develop and implement domestic violence training and education related to the center’s operations. The VSD supervises both paid and student intern LSVC staff to ensure staff deliver non-judgmental services with an emphasis on post separation safety and healthy relationships and healing from violence in a safe and supportive environment.
VSD Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinates the implementation phases of the JFF supported Loyola Supervised Visitation Center. Assists the Project Manager in the development of the OVW required site plan including the development of program policies and procedures based on best practices and guiding principles. Participates in technical assistance opportunities as well as other JFF related management meetings as appropriate. Participates in the development of a LSVC sustainability plan.
  • Supervises part time Visitation Coordinators and student Visitation Facilitators (Level 2 MSW interns). Oversees and/or provides training. Conducts regular staff meetings including providing support, education and debriefing opportunities to students including resources for self-care. Monitors and approves payroll and MSW fieldwork for requirement compliance.
  • Coordinates visitation scheduling utilizing best practices and guiding principles of supervised visitation programming. Assigns Visitation Coordinator and Facilitator to each family.
  • Conducts or assigns intake interviews with new clients and facilitates goal planning with staff or participants using trauma informed approach, in addition to assessing for appropriateness for services.
  • Maintains or supervises staff to maintain professional relationships with parents and children while treating everyone with respect and cultural humility. Participates in ongoing assessment and evaluation of the family’s goals. Provides verbal feedback to families regarding their conduct and progress in visits in conjunction with Visitation Coordinators and Visitation Facilitators.
  • Ensures successful execution of standards, policies and procedures of confidentiality and programming focused on empowerment and safety. Assures that confidentiality is maintained regarding all client information and agency proprietary information, included but not limited to record storage, organization, and maintenance.
  • Maintains collaborative working relationship with community partners and the court.
  • Responsible for tracking of statistical data, continual data quality and program efficiency, accurate client records and input on services and goals.
  • Responsible for the LSVC data collection necessary to meet JFF reporting requirements and help measure progress toward established outcome measures. Preparation of related JFF performance reports. Tracking expenses for grant compliance within Loyola systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.




The LSVC site will be located on or near the Lakeside Loyola Campus in Rogers Park.
Work schedule which includes weekend and/or weeknight hours to accommodate on-site visitation service hours, are otherwise flexible hours.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
Master’s degree in related field and at least five years of progressive program development experience required. Advanced degree and/or additional experience may be required for some positions.

Qualifications
Masters Level Social Work degree or equivalent. Prior experience working with families experiencing domestic violence preferred and/or demonstrated knowledge and compassion for those impacted by intimate partner domestic violence; a comfort level that supports working with those impacted by trauma and conflict employing a dedicated human-centered anti-racist approach toward healing and change. Ability to work collaboratively with others. Ability to work in independent manner, with significant daily responsibilities
Preferred 40-hour domestic violence trained or ability to complete training within 12 weeks of hire
Bilingual Spanish-English preferred
Supervisory experience preferred
Experience in program development and enhancement a plus

Certificates/Credentials/Licenses
Masters Level Social Work degree or equivalent. Preferred 40-hour domestic violence trained or ability to complete training within 12 weeks of hire

Computer Skills
Basic Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Exel, etc) is required.
