The Village of Highland Falls, Orange County, New York is accepting letters of interest from qualified individuals for the position of Village Clerk. The appointed individual will serve as the administrative clerk subject to the direction of the Mayor.

Responsibilities, pursuant to Village Law §4-402, include: maintain custody of the corporate seal, books, records, and papers of the village and all the official reports and communications of the board of trustees; act as clerk of the board of trustees and shall keep record of their proceedings; keep a record of all village resolutions and local laws; prepare, sign and transmit to the village treasurer an order directing the village treasurer to pay the claims therein specified, which order shall contain an abstract of all claims audited and ordered paid by the board of trustees, showing the names of the claimants, the amounts approved for payment and the appropriations chargeable therewith; transmit to the village treasurer all monies belonging to the village in any month on or before the tenth day of the next succeeding month; respond to FOIA requests; keep an indexed record of all written notices which shall be received of the existence of a defective, unsafe, dangerous or obstructed conditions upon any village street or sidewalk, pursuant to §6-628; may administer the oath of office to all village officers; shall perform other duties not inconsistent with the office as shall be determined by resolution of the board of trustees.

Interested parties should submit your qualifications with a brief biography, experience in governmental or municipal accounting, and any experience with Federal or State funded projects.

Interviews and/or additional information may be requested by the village board. In order to be considered for designation, letters must be received by the Village Clerk by 3:00pm on Friday, September 30, 2022
