Position Overview

The Vice President - United States and Canada Sales is responsible for providing strategic plans and insights that allow the business to achieve sales and profitability goals throughout the United States and Canada. This position is responsible for delivering strong sales growth, through planning, controlling and directing the activities of the regional sales managers to maximize sales in each territory and region. This position reports to the President of the organization and will be based out of our Anoka, Minnesota office. This position will have direct responsibility for the regional sales managers for fabrication and workholding products.


Responsibilities

  • Hires, trains and evaluates performance of the organization’s sales representatives.
  • Motivates, guides and supports the regional sales managers through regular communication.
  • Provides guidance and coaching during joint sales calls with field sales staff.
  • Analyzes the effectiveness of sales efforts related to quotes, goals, call reports, discounts, commissions, sales expenses, and similar elements of sales success.
  • Takes an active role managing and closing large sales opportunities for Key Accounts and OEMs.
  • Evaluates sales territory design to maximize market share for the territory, and for the entire organization.
  • Communicates with other members of the Senior Leadership Team to ensure that the overall sales goals of the organization are being achieved.
  • Collaborates with Marketing to ensure proper product, price, promotion and positioning is realized.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement related to sales efforts and communicates to appropriate staff and/or the senior leadership team.
  • Works closely with the VP International Sales to effectively coordinate sales efforts and management for multi-national accounts.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred) with 15 or more years of related experience.
  • 5 or more years of supervisory experience, preferably managing a sales staff.
  • Additional sales training as part of professional development (preferred).
  • Ability to successfully lead a team (coaching, goal setting, performance management and development).
  • Experience with managing direct sales staff and indirect channels such as dealers and manufacturer representatives.
  • Committed to the sales process, who guides the success of the sales process by utilizing proven management techniques.
  • Strong industrial products sales experiences.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Mechanical acumen.
  • Results oriented, with a bias to action.
  • Strategic thinker with an analytical mindset to help drive the organization forward.
  • An optimistic leader with high energy and drive.
  • Participative management style, building consensus among their team.
