Veterinary Assistant Job at Pegkens Dogs and Cats
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Sierra Animal Wellness Center. Our clinic is an integrative veterinary clinic that incorporates western allopathic medicine with Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine using acupuncture, herbs and cold laser therapy. The ideal candidate for this position has experience in a veterinary setting, is comfortable with animal handling and enjoys a fast paced environment. Our Veterinary Assistants regularly communicate with team members to gather information regarding medical issues, and they translate this information into comprehensive medical records that are used during patient examinations.
Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with client care, surgical procedures, and daily operations in a veterinary clinic.
- Perform clerical work, such as filing and inventory control.
- Take medical histories and administer medical examinations for new patients.
- Handle animals in a way that is safe and reduces their stress levels.
- Ensure that animals are healthy.
- Maintain records of patient treatments and vaccinations.
- Assist with the anesthesia of animals before surgical procedures.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.18 - $18.36 per hour
