Variety seeks a passionate and talented full-time Designer to join our Los Angeles team. The position will collaborate with the creative team on its weekly magazine and extra editions. The ideal candidate will work primarily on designing front and back of book sections, features, perform minor retouching, assign illustration, and collaborate with editors. We seek energy and intelligence in the candidate’s work, which is key to our book and lends itself well to our editorial team’s in-depth news and creative approach. Attention to detail and working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is required. This position is in Los Angeles, CA.

Job Responsibilities:

• Designing front and back of the book pages
• Works on Variety’s supplemental Award issues
• Designing features
• Perform minor photo retouching
• Assigning illustrations
• Working with editors on content generation for print, social and digital
• Creative desire to evolve the Variety brand

Qualifications:

• 1-3+ years of experience in magazine design and editorial environment preferred
• Knowledge with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
• A positive attitude and strong work ethic with a desire to inspire others
• Self-Starter who can work independently and is an Ego-less team collaborator
• Develop original design concepts and deliver polished visual designs
• Highly organized and able to prioritize deadlines
• Experience in photo-illustration and the K4 platform a plus
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced and highly creative environment
• Openness to collaborating closely with art, photo, and editorial staffs

This position pays $65k.

As part of our company-wide rollout of PMC’s paid healthcare plan, for this role the company pays 100% of the monthly health, dental and vision plan premiums for the employee and their family. The total compensation package for this position will include other elements including 401(k) eligibility and paid time off benefits.
