SGI is seeking a Chief of Party for an anticipated new USAID/RDMA counter-wildlife trafficking activity, to conserve biodiversity and strengthen rules-based order by building on the long history of USAID Regional Development Mission for Asia (RDMA) in countering wildlife trafficking (CWT) through partnerships with regional organizations, governments, the private sector, and civil society. The Activity delivers on USAID/RDMA's Regional Development Cooperation Strategy under Regional Development Objective 3's Intermediate Result 3.2 "Transnational environmental crime reduced" as well as Regional Development Objective 1, Intermediate Result 1.1 "Support for regional civil society networks strengthened." The Activity is also designed to support USAID policies on biodiversity, gender, indigenous peoples, and youth as well as priorities on local capacity development, private sector engagement, and climate change.

Major Responsibilities

The Chief of Party will be based in country and will be responsible for the technical leadership and in-country management of the project. Key job functions include:

• Manage all field aspects of technical assistance delivery, including activity design, execution, post-activity follow-up and reporting to funder;
• Manage completion of all activities and deliverables in line with approved work plan;
• Oversee operations of local office(s);
• Develop and maintain productive relationships with key local counterparts, USAID and other relevant technical assistance providers; and
• Liaise closely with home office SGI staff to ensure effective program implementation and management.

Qualifications

The COP must have the following qualifications:

• A Master's degree (or higher) in a relevant sector (public administration, public policy, climate change adaptation/mitigation, environmental management)
• 8 to 10 years of experience managing donor-funded programs focused on counter wildlife trafficking, climate adaptation, environmental management or related program, preferably in the RDMA Region (USAID experience preferred)
• Technical expertise in one or more of the following areas: wildlife trafficking; climate change; resilience; sustainability; environmental management; local governance; environmental economics and community engagement
• Proven results-oriented team player
• Demonstrated ability to execute new initiatives and experience working on projects following adaptive management principles
• Experience supervising staff and overseeing successful project implementation
• Ability to lead and form constructive partnerships with and among local counterparts
• Exceptional communications, interpersonal, and management skills
