SUMMARY

Responsible for evaluating and negotiating new and renewal business including evaluating submissions for qualification and completeness; requesting and reviewing safety evaluations; performing loss analysis; performing and/or reviewing rating; utilizing pricing models to determine proper program design options within the authority assigned. Performs routine account maintenance functions during the policy term including endorsements to or amendments of coverage.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviews submission data to determine outstanding requirements and requests required additional information.
  • Quotes new and renewal business by performing tasks leading to the issuance of the proposal, including but not limited to loss analysis and loss rating, NCCI and ISO rating and experience rating, and completion of underwriting review and analysis forms;
  • Prepares Proposals of Coverage and Confirmation of Coverage;
  • Rating skills to include manual/basic limits, full limits, and experience rating;
  • Performs all servicing functions during the policy term including authorization of endorsements or amendments of coverage;
  • Assists in premium audit review and account completion;
  • Maintains contact by phone or written correspondence with various Astrus brokers, internal compliance personnel and underwriting management in order to resolve issues and foster good business relations;
  • Assists in the coordination and participates in claim reviews with the client;
  • Makes off-site safety visits with risk control personnel;
  • Performs administrative functions, including but not limited to policy file maintenance and proofreading in order to assist in efficient department operations;
  • Attends department, broker and client meetings as required;
  • Complies with agency management system data standards and data integrity (enters and maintains complete and accurate information);
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

6+ years related work experience; prior experience underwriting contractors preferred

Understanding of P&C insurance coverages and rating the same, including Commercial General Liability, Commercial Auto, Workers compensation, preferably some experience gained within an insurance company or MGU environment

Sovereign Indian Nation experience helpful

Valid insurance license required or must be obtained within 180 days of hire

Must continue to meet requirements for license renewal

SKILLS

Salary: $87,000 - $110,000
