The Professional Science Consultant will meet with students to provide students with Science tutoring services on the Keokuk Campus. Consultants will communicate with students to set up times for Science tutoring, work with our data management system (TutorTrac) to log student visits, help with assessment of the Academic Achievement Center, as well as communicate & collaborate with other the Learning Resources Coordinator, & other Professional Consultants.

  • Tutoring sessions can range anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour. Sessions should be able to accommodate up to 3 students if coursework is similar in material.
  • Pay rate is $16 per hour. These positions are part-time hourly positions, and are not eligible for SCC benefits.
  • This position specifically would report to the Keokuk Campus 2 days each week, totaling to 8 hours per week, scheduled Monday-Thursday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, based on student need.

Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree with sufficient collegiate Science coursework & ability to assist students with Science coursework including, but not limited to: Anatomy & Physiology, Biology & Chemistry.
  • Excellent customer service skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science related field
  • Experience that demonstrates sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic,

socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disabled backgrounds of community college students

  • Experience working with students
  • Experience working with adult learners
  • Base-level technology knowledge
  • A copy of unofficial transcripts needs to be sent as well.
