MISSION:

RCMA Mulberry Community Academy, a Title I Charter School in Polk County, is seeking an Afterschool Coordinator.

RCMA Mulberry Community Academy is dedicated to opening doors of opportunity for the children of Florida’s farmworkers and agricultural migrants. Most students in our small, community-oriented classes are English Language Learners of Central American heritage with big dreams of making their mark. In order to best serve our student population, the school is a dual language program school (50:50, English/Spanish), with a one-way immersion model.

Mulberry Community Academy, our newest charter school is located in Mulberry, Florida, and will serve approximately 80 K-1st students in its first year. The small size of enrollment allows us to be able to serve our students and their families on a personal level.

Redlands Christian Migrant Association, RCMA, is a non-profit corporation serving Florida agriculture workers and their children for more than fifty years. RCMA is recognized as a “Schools of Hope operator” by the State Board of Education, a prestigious designation for non-profit, charter school operators.

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Responsible for the operation (management and administration) of an RCMA school-age program. Provide leadership to degreed and non-degreed staff to provide a culturally sensitive, age-appropriate, and healthy school-age program with support to families.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following however, other duties may be assigned:

  • Provides the leadership for the academy afterschool program. Provides direct supervision of teacher aides and school-age tutors. Creates a positive quality-of-work-life environment, contributing to the mission of RCMA. Responsible for overseeing the interviewing, hiring, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems in accordance with RCMA policies and applicable laws.
  • Ensures DCF licensing standards are met; facilities are maintained; and Human Resources and Fiscal administration is accomplished accurately and timely.
  • Maintains safety standards and completes necessary reports in accordance with RCMA policy, and state and federal regulations.
  • Provides a developmentally appropriate program for all age groups including all areas of growth: physical, language, social, emotional, and cognitive self-help.
  • Assures the academy creates and maintains trusting relationships with families that will enhance the empowerment of the family to reach their goals and improve their ability to develop their children to their highest possible potential. Engages in a process of collaborative partnership building with parents to establish mutual trust and to identify family goals, strengths, and necessary services and other support.
  • Uses the Family Resource Directory to assist families. Through referrals and direct services assist RCMA families with meeting their goals. Assists with planning and providing a variety of parent involvement and education activities that meet the needs of individual parents or groups.
  • Provides support to families whose children are suspected of having disabilities and refers children to a professional for assistance.
  • Ensures nutritional meals and snacks are provided to children with sensitivity to cultural and ethnic food preferences.
  • Ensures recruitment, screening, and selection policies and procedures established by RCMA are followed.
  • Commits to professionalism and RCMA.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or GED. Experience with training and or supervising non-degreed professionals. Transcript documentation of passing All Competency Exams for the DCF Child Care Training within 1st year of employment. Must have Director Credential, when required.

OTHER: Able to work flexible hours, occasional evenings, and varying daytime shifts during weekdays. Some weekend work is required. Must be age 21. Have or be able to obtain a Florida driver’s license. A driving record acceptable to RCMA’s insurance carrier is required. Ability to work with degreed and non-degreed professional staff and families.
