We help our Mid Soles realize their capacity for greatness by setting and achieving seemingly impossible goals, by creating opportunities for them to challenge themselves and explore what kind of leaders they are.
Mid Soles (MS) are high school students who are alumni of ST. MS will support Young Soles (YS) and Old Soles (OS) at one to two (ideally two) sites. They will attend practices, help their Host Site Coordinator (HSC) with recruitment, and help with behind the scenes logistics, like taking attendance. MS commit to being team leaders in word, action, and spirit. They will share the benefits of running while building a safe, welcoming community and cheer each individual on as they grow and thrive. MS are expected to attend and in cooperation with Host Site Coordinators (HSC): 1. lead weekly in-person practices, facilitate opening/closing circle, take attendance, and encourage all YS and OS during and after practice time. 2. MS also support the team by helping with site community building; as well as planning, executing, and leading events. MS are a consistent positive presence (woo captains!) who reach out to each YS to build strong trusting relationships and celebrate growth every step of the way. 3. They also aid in administrative tasks such as: registration, gear size collection and distribution, recruitment efforts for both YS and site-based OS, event support, and survey completion. 4. MS also contribute to the ST newsletter (writing, video, pictures, quotes, etc.), contributing to ST social media, creating content with the TBC development team including, but not limited to, our yearly fundraiser Bostonians For Youth (BFY), sharing YS/OS and their own feedback throughout the school year, and participating and helping all complete end of year evaluations. 5. They develop recruitment materials and strategies for YS and community-based OS, help prepare and facilitate training for OS, and support the planning, executing, and leading of ST events.
