JOB TITLE: Tribal Liaison – San Juan/McKinley County

FLSA STATUS: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Hourly

REPORTS TO: Children’s Advocacy Center Program Director

WORK SCHEDULE: 30 hours per week

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

The Tribal Liaison is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with existing and prospective tribal MDT members. The Tribal Liaison will also identify and address barriers to tribal MDT member participation and assure that victims on tribal lands receive a full range of high-quality services.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

a. Relationship-building with and recruitment of new tribal Multi-Disciplinary Team members, including law enforcement officers, child protective services workers, behavioral health providers, medical providers, etc.

b. Networking with tribal MDT members and community providers via attendance at community/agency events and trainings

c. Coordination of introductory training and MDT orientation to new tribal MDT members regarding the NCA standards and proper MDT functioning

d. Travel between Childhaven office and various tribal entity offices to meet with existing and prospective tribal MDT members

e. Assist in the development of tribal MDT protocols

f. Monitor quality and timelines of service delivery for victims on tribal lands

g. Assure adherence to NCA standards/MDT protocols in these investigations

h. Attend monthly MDT Meetings and Case Reviews

JOB KNOWLEDGE:

· Demonstrated competency in joint investigations of child abuse, writing protocols, and leading groups.

· Working knowledge of child development and psychodynamics of child abuse, sexual abuse, domestic violence and family dynamics.

· Cultural awareness and sensitivity

· Familiarity with social services, law enforcement and the court system.

· Knowledge of local community resources and social service delivery systems in northwest New Mexico

· Good organizational and computer skills

· Skilled in working with a population diverse in ethnicity, race, religion, socioeconomic background, physical and/or mental ability, sexual preference, and gender identify/expression

· Ability to work with a complex network of MDT partner agency personnel

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor’s degree in a human services field or similar, preferred, or AA degree

· Experience in team facilitation or group dynamics

· At least 25 years of age or older to be eligible to drive Childhaven vehicles and a Current, Valid NM Driver’s License and clean driving record

· Must pass local, state, and federal background checks (including fingerprints)

· Must obtain and maintain CPR and CPI certification

· Bilingual (Spanish/English or Navajo/English) preferred

· Must have strong organizational skills, be team oriented, flexible and self-motivated

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Ability to develop positive relationships with community partners, families, co-workers and team members

· Minimum of 24 hours of ongoing training per year

Childhaven’s Children’s Advocacy Centers in San Juan and McKinley Counties are looking to hire for a full-time position:

Tribal Multi-disciplinary Team Liaison as part of a federal four-year grant award to improve services to child victims of abuse and their families living in tribal areas proximate to these two counties.

As an accredited Children’s Advocacy Center, Childhaven utilizes a multi-disciplinary approach to investigate and intervene in child abuse cases. The Tribal Liaison position will work with all agencies that investigate these child abuse cases as well as build relationships with tribal governments and partners to assure a formal protocol between the entities is reached. Experience in negotiations and working with tribal government entities is preferred.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour, 30 hours per week
