DESCRIPTION:

The Traveling Installation Technician is responsible for the successful execution and completion of installation projects in the communications industry. Candidate will ensure contract specifications are met for the installation of equipment at client sites throughout the region. Installation technicians are simply responsible for new client set-ups/implementation OR installing new equipment/hardware at a client site. Client prefers the Install Technician to be located in NC, VA or SC because this role can grow into a leadership position and if so, they need the candidate to be as close to the Headquarters as possible.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete installation of equipment based on install schedule for both new and existing client needs; includes but is not limited to mounting equipment, run/bend conduit or wire mold, pulling CAT6 wire, pulling fiber, set-up of switches, APs, racks, shelves, etc...
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and repair equipment as needed; respond to and update trouble tickets via the approved ticketing software system.
  • Perform site surveys and obtain field verification data for individual installation projects; consider site logistics; determine appropriate equipment, manpower needs and site coordination. Review requirements for individual installation projects with involved parties.
  • Complete site walkthroughs and build orders in a timely fashion using approved forms in preparation for agreed upon installation date; document and share pertinent information related to assigned projects; document all projects in approved project file.
  • Ensure the Company vehicle is in safe, fully operational condition according to the Vehicle Service and Maintenance form; use Company approved software to track travel and expense related to company vehicle; safely haul trailer when needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

3-5 years’ experience with installation, maintenance and testing of equipment and circuits, preferably in the telecommunications industry.

High school diploma or equivalent required; Technical training in telephony, telecommunications installation procedures, and fiber lines, preferred.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

Traveling most of the time away from home – sometimes out of state - working Monday-Thursday. There is the potential for candidate to move into a leadership role.
