The Washington State Investment Board (WSIB) manages investments for 17 retirement plans for public employees, teachers, school employees, law enforcement officers, firefighters, and judges. We also manage investments for several other important public funds that benefit Washington’s industrial insurance program, colleges and universities, and developmental disability programs. The WSIB’s excellent investment performance dramatically contributes to the state’s bottom line by earning the lion’s share of money needed to cover state pension benefits.

The WSIB embraces a hybrid work model. This position should anticipate 60% of their time in the office.

The WSIB is seeking a qualified candidate to join our team as a non-permanent Travel Program Coordinator in the Operations Division. This position reports to the Travel Program Manager and is expected to last up to 18 months. This is a unique opportunity to support the agency’s complex domestic and international travelers and travel program in a state agency that serves as a global investment firm. The WSIB is made up of dynamic teams supporting and executing global investment portfolio management and due diligence. This position supports the WSIB’s mission to invest with integrity, prudence, and skill to meet or exceed the financial objectives of those we serve by providing travel expertise enabling staff to conduct the necessary due diligence.

WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
A customer service-focused individual with a commitment to service who is keen on finding solutions to challenging situations and able to forecast client needs. This position requires someone who can adapt their approach, goals, and methods to achieve solutions and results in dynamic situations and listen attentively to clients in order to determine the best way to support them within the parameters of applicable rules, regulations, and policies.

We are looking for a team member who demonstrates strong prioritization skills, can pivot with changing business needs, and independently advise clients based on their individual needs and situations. The environment calls for someone who accepts personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work.

The travel program is working to embrace new technologies that streamline the work of the unit. We are looking for someone who has experience with and is open to testing and learning new technologies that will serve to best support our clients.

Duties

IF SELECTED FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY, YOU WILL:

  • Independently advise staff and other clients regarding the travel program.
  • Define needs and plan detailed itineraries for staff, Board members, and job seekers.
  • Research flight and accommodation information to ensure best value and compliance with rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Support traveling clients by providing relevant information, guidance, and materials for smooth travel execution.
  • Establish and maintain records and approvals for trips in accordance with agency practice for record retention purposes.
  • Track and monitor workflows and assist customers using applications and systems.
  • Prepare and maintain reports for travel related fiscal reconciliation.

Qualifications

COMPETITIVE APPLICANTS WILL HAVE:

  • Demonstratable experience learning new systems and technologies
  • Ability to adapt swiftly to changing priorities
