Job Summary:

Must have a willingness to work with the realization that error may have serious consequences for residents. Must exercise patience and tact in dealing with residents their families, and visitors. Initiative and judgment are needed to recognize symptoms indicative of a resident’s adverse reaction to treatment. Must be willing to perform a variety of simple, repetitive tasks many of which involve unpleasant conditions. Should try to maintain a cheerful and home like atmosphere. Performs nursing work involved in routine resident care. Must adhere to resident’s rights at all times and refrain from any emotional, verbal or physical abuse to resident.

Job Tasks:

1. Schedule outside doctors visits.

2. Contact Resident/Families in regards to appoint calendar.

3. Transport residents to/from appointments.

4. Care for residents needs while out at appointments.

5. Has knowledge of the proper use and application of gait belts.

6. Knowledge and demonstrates proper use and application of mechanical lifts.

7. Attends all in-services and staff meetings.

8. And other duties as assigned by administrative staff.

Physical Demands:

Good physical and mental health required. Requires lifting a minimum of 40 lbs., stooping, and bending to administer care to the residents and to move heavy equipment. Work requires a great amount of standing and walking. Visual and aural acuity to detect changes to resident’s condition.

Working Conditions:

Working indoors, having contact with numerous people, i.e. nursing staff, residents, families, visitors, physicians, clergy and other employees. Must keep good body hygiene and proper uniform according to dress code.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include the handling and service of residents in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort. Adhering to instructions issued by the Nurse and to establish methods and techniques and in conformance with recognized standards.

Job Specifications:

A. Mental Application: Must have an average degree of concentration. Must have a genuine interest in caring for the geriatric resident. He/she must use tact and patience in dealing with residents, their families, and visitors. Must work under close supervision of the supervisor-in-charge.

B. Dexterity and Accuracy: Requires an average degree of mental and physical dexterity. Must have a willingness to perform a variety of simple repetitive tasks. Accuracy is required in charting ADL’s on the electronic medical records. You must keep you environment clean and orderly.

C. Machines and Tools Used: Hoyer Lift, wheelchairs, and Hi-Low beds.

Job Knowledge:

A. Education: Must be able to read and write. Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Must be a certified-Level 1 CNA

B. Training Data: Must complete orientation assigned by facility, attend in-service classes. Must be a certified nurse assistant Level I currently registered with the North Carolina Board of Nursing and Division of Facility Services, if not a certified nurse assistant Level 1, must have already completed a DFS/NC Board of Nursing approved program, and pass competency testing within 90 days of employment.

C. Must have a clean driving record.
