NC Trailer Sales is seeking a Trailer Service Technician/Mechanic II, who is a member of the Parts and Service team. The focus of the Service Technician (Service Mechanic) is to provide excellent service for customers who need repairs, preventative maintenance or customization of their trailers. Reports to: Service Manager

Primary job responsibilities:

• Complete maintenance and repairs on trailers
• Perform service and repairs on hydraulic systems
• Customize trailers according to customer's specifications
• Install parts and accessories on trailers
• Hookup trailers to customer vehicles including lighting and wiring
• Complete service diagnostics, determine additional service needs, obtain cost and time estimates
• Prepare service estimates and resolve service-related issues
• Write service work orders, estimate costs, timing and obtain customer approval
• Complete intake service requests and obtain customer information
• Submit completed work orders and delivery check-in sheets
• Perform golf cart repairs
• Change tires with or without a tire-changing machine
• Load and unload trailers and parts received
• Organize trailer inventory on the lot
• Coordinate service needs with colleagues and vendors to ensure excellent customer service
• Assist manager prep for and conducting department meetings
• Assist in training other service technicians and assigning work
• Assist with facilities maintenance including scraping sales lot and fence repair

Skills/Qualifications:

• 2 years of related experience
• Valid NCDL required; NC Dealers License required (or able to obtain)
• Required equipment experience: Tractor, forklift, tire changing machine, cutting torch, general power tools, and general hand tools
• Required skills: welding, 12-volt wiring, able to repair service trailers and vehicles
• Required: able to tow and back a trailer, able to pass a tractor driving assessment
• Product knowledge required to perform the job proficiently
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems service repairs or ability to learn
• Knowledge of fabrication or ability to learn
• Experience with talking directly with customers and answering questions
• Physical ability to stand, bend, squat and lift 50 lbs throughout the day including overhead, unload tires, wheels, and parts by hand and with a forklift, and get on and off the tractor throughout the day
• Able to work independently and as an active member of a team
• Able to enter and retrieve data from various computer systems (DMS)
• Basic general math skills including add, subtract, multiply, divide, fractions, and calculating percentages
• Have legible handwriting

Work Hours:

• Monday-Friday: 8:45am-5:30pm
• Saturday: 8:45am-12:00pm
• Every Sunday off; Off half day during the week (M, T, W, or Th)
• Hours may vary depending on training and delivery schedules

• Work is performed outside on the trailer yard and in the service shop
• Work is completed in all climate conditions (hot and cold weather)

Salary information:

Individuals in the Trailer Service Technician/Mechanic II is a level 2 position and has a total compensation plan in the range of $40,000-$52,000 annually, including performance based incentives.
