Traffic Coordinator - Backup Job at Axium Foods, Inc

Under the direction of the Senior Warehouse Manager, the Traffic Controller is responsible for safely, efficiently, and effectively covering shipping, receiving, and scheduling positions as needed. The Traffic Controller is a key component of our overall business success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

1. Follow the guidelines of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), uniform and dress code, and product safety requirements.

2. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards, keeping work area clean and safe at all times.

3. Maintain a good attendance record and positive attitude.

4. Support company policies and be safety conscious at all times.

5. Report safety concerns and defective equipment to immediate supervisor.

6. Within 24 hours, advise customers when a load hasn’t shipped on the scheduled date.

7. Run live load and drop trailer reports; set up all dock appointments and carriers accordingly.

8. Run live load and drop trailer reports daily to ensure all new orders/information are added to current schedule.

9. Contact customers when drivers arrive past their expected pick-up time.

10. Review freight bills and update spreadsheet.

11. Line up LTL shipments; ensure all needed documentation/placards are correct.

12. Get quotes from carriers as needed. Requote all lanes every six months. Submit quotes to management for review.

13. Perform all ASN/EDI transactions and print labels for all EDI customers.

14. Assist with implementing new EDI customers.

15. Check-in drivers, obtain shipping numbers and dock times; advise warehouse of driver’s arrival.

16. Print BOL’s for warehouse as needed.

17. Perform re-classification of inventoried items as needed.

18. Close orders as needed for invoicing.

19. Assist in sealing up trailers and completing paperwork with drivers.

20. Have a good knowledge of all warehouse jobs and equipment and fill in for any jobs in the area, as needed.

21. Check inventory, perform product counts, weigh product, tag product, operate a handheld barcode scanner, inspect and maintain equipment.

22. Back up for Warehouse Supervisor when they are unavailable.

23. Work extended and/or flexible schedule as the needs of the business dictate.

24. Work in other areas as workload demands.

25. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience

· Requires education generally equivalent to a high school diploma and one to three months related experience to become familiar with equipment and processes.

· Must be able to work efficiently and independently.

· Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Language Skills

1. Ability to read and write English.

2. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

3. Ability to write simple correspondence.

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to team leaders, managers, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

· Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

· Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job:

· The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or touch objects, tools, or controls; reach above shoulders; and talk and listen.

· The employee is occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and use foot/feet to operate machine.

· The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

· Specific vision abilities required by this job included close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
