Job Description
General description:
This position manages a building and grounds for assigned campus. Areas managed include buildings and mechanical maintenance, ground maintenance, housekeeping and related services. This is an entry to senior level position.

Duties and Tasks:
As the Trades Tech/Contract Administrator your duties will be to:
  • Provide dependable, high quality work in appearance and maintenance of the buildings and equipment assigned to by the Facilities Manager.
  • Exercise independent judgement in applying prescribed policies, procedures, and technical knowledge in assigned tasks and providing a timely response in support of the college mission.
  • Function as a Contract Administrator for the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds.
  • Inspect and submit report on all contracted work in-progress and upon completion.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.



KSA's/Required Qualifications
KSA’s :
  • Ability to follow verbal instruction and work independently.
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision and make sound decisions independently.
  • Proficient in the use of hand, pneumatic, and electrical tools.
  • Ability to lift/move 50Ibs. on a regular basis.
  • Ability to function in close quarters or cramped environments.
  • Experienced in Snow Removal.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft office suite


Required Qualifications :
  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • Some experience in building trades (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry).
  • Valid Virginia driver’s license and insurable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Some experience working in a commercial building setting.
  • Some experience with a computerized maintenance management system.
  • Some experience working from blueprints and drawings.
