Track Assistant Junior High Co-ed Job at Davenport CSD
Duties & Responsibilities: (Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)
- Has a thorough knowledge of all athletic policy approved by the Davenport Board of Education
- Promote the entire athletic program and adhere to the philosophies and policies of Wood Intermediate
- Must possess an enthusiastic attitude and ability to understanding intermediate age athletes in an athletic setting
- Develop players to their fullest potential, starting with the basic fundamentals of fitness and track and field.
- Supervise players at all practices and meets as well as in the locker room and on the bus
- Monitor and enforce district academic standards and policies
- Responsible for maintaining all equipment/apparel
- Must be available for evenings
- Work in cooperation with the Director of Athletics for the Davenport Community Schools and in cooperation with the Activity Director at Wood Intermediate
- Successful candidate must possess strong inter-personal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students, to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential
- Good attendance and punctuality are a must, to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully
- Must be willing to support and implement Davenport's multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) for both behavior and academics
- Be able to drive school vans to events, if needed.
- Be able to lift/carry 50 lbs.
- Able to stand for extended periods of time
- Able to demonstrate track and field positions and techniques to the players
- Must possess a valid Iowa coaching endorsement, including the completion and submission of the NFHS Online Concussion Course
- Previous experience is important and successful coaching experience is preferred
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable
