The Opportunity

Our Toxicology Division located in Gretna, LA currently has an opportunity for a Toxicology Laboratory Assistant 1. Responsible for receiving, opening, and verifying specimens per the SAMHSA mandatory guidelines and those of other regulatory authorizations.

What You’ll Work On

  • Receive and open specimens delivered to the laboratory for analysis
  • Review and document the acceptability of the specimen and chain of custody forms
  • Assign laboratory accessioning numbers and aliquot specimens
  • Destroy specimens; as needed
  • Clean and maintain the work area daily
  • Inspect all trash bags once aliquoting process is completed to ensure sample and document removal
  • Process Triage request
  • Assist Sample Handling area
  • Prepare samples for shipment
  • Adhere to all security procedures for ensuring the confidentiality of donor information
  • Must comply with company policy

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • 2-3 years of experience in the lab environment
  • Advanced ability to understand certification requirements for SAMHSA, CAP-FUDT, and other regulatory bodies
  • Basic ability to understand the function of a Laboratory Information System (LIS) and other laboratory computer systems

Preferred

  • Basic ability to use a computer
  • Basic ability to understand laboratory techniques and procedures
  • Basic ability to communicate ideas

  • Participants who complete a short wellness assessment
