Thermal Validation Engineer Job at NVIDIA

The Thermal Engineering Product Team is looking for a hands-on team member who will contribute towards developing and implementing world class validation, characterization, instrumentation, processes, and prototyping activities related to development of NVIDIA’s Gaming, High Performance Compute, Automotive, Robotics, and other products.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Characterize thermal designs and electronic assemblies: Building-up physical prototype assemblies, instrumenting those assemblies for testing, carrying out testing with specific diagnostic software, summarizing data, disassembling, modifying and reassembling systems
  • Collaborate with cross disciplinary and multi-functional teams to define and implement hardware test plans and collecting data according to plans, performing calculations/analysis, and summarizing data
  • Developing, documenting, implementing, and validating test methods
  • Developing and defining appropriate instrumentation and processes towards our efforts of continuous improvement, learning, and growth
What we need to see:
  • Experience in computer/server system level set-up and validation.
  • Expertise in Windows and Linux software as related to set-up, functional testing, and validation of computer hardware systems.
  • Knowledge/experience with thermal evaluation of electronic systems.
  • 3+ years related experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience with direct experience in electronics systems validation.
  • Strong testing, troubleshooting, data summary, documentation, and organization skills.
  • Hands on proficiency in tear down and buildup of computer hardware, servers, and/or mobile devices.
  • An exceptional naturally collaborative self-starter that thrives working collaboratively with other engineering teams or independently.
  • Experience and familiarity in standard methodologies of maintaining, organizing, and improving the usability of an engineering laboratory.
Ways to stand out from the crowd:
  • Expertise in thermal measurement instrumentation, data acquisition, and other methodologies, e.g., thermocouple placement and attach, voltage and current measurements, obtaining readings using automated data acquisition, mechanical assembly and tear downs.
  • Proficiency in Python or other scripting/programming languages.
  • Fundamental knowledge of heat transfer.
  • Strong dedication and experience in providing accurate data with attention to detail, and willingness to complete sometimes extended testing and manual procedures.
  • Hands on experience with Windows based systems including loading drivers and BIOS, a Unix command line environment, and potentially modify or write simple scripts for execution.
  • Experience and ability to use basic hand tools and devices such as Dremel tools, hand drills, files, metal sheers, wrenches, etc.
