About this position

The Scheduler assists with various functions related to the efficient operation of registration and scheduling for various sites/departments .


What we’ll expect from you

  • Schedules and registers all appointments.
  • Performs reception and clerical functions; i.e. chart preparation, report processing, customer packet information.
  • Completes insurance verification.
  • Demonstrates a professional and courteous approach to customers, physicians, colleagues, and customers in person and on the telephone.
  • Answers the telephone appropriately and directs calls and/or takes accurate messages.
  • Facilitates communication between the medical staff and/or therapists and outside sources, e.g. referring physicians, outreach, nursing homes, clinics, home care and hospice. Communication may include written, electronic, paging, telephonic.
  • Manages messages and/or work queues as assigned within Epic in-basket.
  • Maintains appointment schedule for the department.
  • Explains customer prep instructions and procedure information if required.
  • Retrieves, sorts and delivers interoffice and incoming mail.
  • Accepts other duties as assigned to promote the accomplishment of organizational goals.
  • The team member is accountable to demonstrate proficiency for the skills outlined in the appropriate position skills list.

Education

  • High School Graduate or equivalent (i.e. GED) required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Previous scheduling and/or registration related experience in a hospital, clinic, or physician's office preferred.
  • Knowledge of computerized scheduling systems preferred.
• Knowledge of Epic scheduling preferred. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • PC and keyboarding skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in high pressure and fast past environment.
