Westwood Country Club’s state-of-the-art clubhouse opened in 2009 and features modern amenities in a luxurious, colonial revival style building. Westwood Country Club has 4, Har-tru Tennis Courts, a Tennis Shop, and a Spectator Balcony overlooking the courts with shaded seating areas. It is the ideal setup for events and matches, relaxing between sets, as well as for parents to watch their kids learning the game of tennis.

Positions Available: Tennis Pro

Position Summary: Provides group and individual tennis lessons as assigned by Head Tennis Professional.

Reports To: Head Tennis Professional

Status: Seasonal, Rate set by Pro.

Job Tasks (Duties):

1. Assists in promoting and coordinating lessons, in-house leagues and tennis socials.

2. Communicates with Head Tennis Professional to schedule and publicize club tennis events.

3. Assists with special tennis events and tournaments.

4. Records court reservations and lesson appointments.

5. Answers phones in the Tennis Shop, books courts and lessons and invoices members for purchases.

6. Supervises adult lessons and events.

7. May assist in managing Tennis Shop in Head Tennis Professional’s absence.

8. Helps keep tennis facility clean and in proper order.

9. Advises supervisor of any member or guest complaints as soon as they occur.

10. Assists in closing functions.

11. Consistently follows all safety requirements.

12. Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by the manager on duty and/or AGM.

13. Performs other tasks and duties that may arise.

Knowledge, Skill, Ability Requirements:

• College degree preferred but not required.
• Undergraduate major in Physical Education or Sports Management desirable.
• Collegiate team experience desirable, preferably with a 4.5 or above rating.
• Two to three year competitive playing experience and/or tennis supervisory experience.
• Experience running junior development programs as well as adult programs.
• Knowledge of court maintenance.
• At least two years of experience in retail sales of sporting goods.
• Club experience helpful.
• Able to promote and teach private and group lessons to juniors and adults.
• Ability to re-string, re-grip and repair rackets.
• Knowledge of and ability to perform required role in emergency situations.
• Certification with either U.S. Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) or Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) preferred.
• USPTA P1 rating preferred.
• Player ability equal to NCAA Division 1 level preferred.
