Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represents the Credit Union in a professional and courteous manner to members and potential members. Provides prompt, efficient, accurate, friendly service in the processing of transactions.
  • Fully complies with all SRP Credit Union policies, procedures, guidelines, and service standards, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act and OFAC Policies.
  • Responsible for referring, selling and cross-selling Credit Union products and services. Credit Union services are to be promoted using a member benefit based approach to aid members in obtaining their financial goals.
  • Processes cash and check transactions in a fast paced environment while verifying proper endorsements and negotiability. Adheres to check acceptance policies, obtains proper approval when needed, and proactively acts to deter fraud. Processes all other types of teller transactions.
  • Ask questions during interactions with members, employs excellent listening and communication skills effectively to uncover needs. Makes referrals to the appropriate contacts.
  • Exhibits a positive can do attitude at all times and provides amazing member service.
  • Advises members concerning Credit Union routine services and policies including explaining what the Credit Union is (Credit Union philosophy).
  • Educates members on credit union online and mobile banking services that are a convenient method for members to conduct their business, at anytime from anywhere.
  • Proofs work as it is posted to improve accuracy and reduce errors. Reconciles all transactions at the end of each day, including balancing all cash and checks.
  • Serves as backup and relief for other Tellers at different locations when needed.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills including speaking clearly and concisely. Maintains a pleasant tone and demeanor at all times. Demonstrates active listening skills and quickly builds rapport with others to grow and maintain member relationships.
  • Demonstrates exceptional teamwork and potentially mentor’s new employees.
  • May backup Front Line Service Supervisor as needed.
  • Potentially cross-trained in some MSR areas to better assist our members.
  • May be assigned other tasks by appropriate line supervision.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 1+ year of member/customer service and cash handling experience.
  • Completion of Teller Progression requirements for Teller II.
  • Excellent math skills.

Physical Demands:

This is largely an active role, requiring use of typical office equipment such as a computer, printer, and vaults. Requires sitting for long hours and/or standing for long hours. Requires some lifting, under 50 lbs. Most work is completed in an office environment. Walking around the branch and addressing employees and members is required.
