Duties: Provide nursing care to surgical patients, completing pre-operative and post-operative procedures. Performs assessments; monitors and ensures quality care through observation and evaluation; documents nursing interventions on care plans and medical records, and reports findings to physicians as needed. Distributes and maintains records of controlled drugs and insures their security. Responds to emergencies; maintains availability of medications and supplies; ensures cleanliness of equipment and environment. Educated patients regarding their medications, procedure and treatments. Additionally, provided preoperative, inter-operative and post-operative care instruction. Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Notes: RNs read and interpret own strips. - Vents: Yes - IV drips: Amio, Heparin - Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: Yes - IV Team: No - RT 24/7: Yes - Pharmacy 24/7: Yes - Shifts: 12 hr shifts, 0630-1900, 1830-0700 - Floating: MedSurg 5, MedSurg 6, and Rehab. - Floor specific orientation: 1 shift with a preceptor. - Common diagnosis / Types of patients: CHF, Chest pain, Arrhythmias, Sepsis, Open Heart - Additional Notes: Strong focus on the patient experience. Shift report is done in the room with the patient.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Graduate of accredited school of registered nursing
• Current RN license
• Minimum one year acute care experience preferred
• Current BLS and ACLS certification
• Demonstrated ability to exhibit a high degree of professionalism
