Foodmate is adding a Technical Support Specialist to join our team focused company. As a Foodmate Technical Support Specialist, you will be the front line to highest level technical support person for Foodmate technicians and customers via email and phone for the installed customer base. You will apply basic to advanced technical knowledge, documentation, and product experience. The Technical Support Specialist will assist customers in troubleshooting steps to identify the root cause and provide corrective action either through change in process, replacement parts, or if the issue requires, an onsite technician to resolve.


Position Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Provides external customers with technical support in response to inquiries via phone and email
  • Coordinates response to customer issues by gathering input from internal experts in service and engineering
  • Create, manage and close technical support cases in the case management system
  • Assist in the coordination of the field change activities
  • May conduct field service as needed to support the field service team and gain additional practical experience. Responsible for timely and accurate documentation of all service activities
  • Provide equipment reliability feedback to quality engineering and collaborate on improvements
  • Attend training classes and technician meetings as required
  • Provide support in commissioning products. Participate in start-up meetings with client and engineering
  • Comply to industry, company, and customer safe working practices
  • Provide after hours support as part of a rotating pool
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

    • Minimum of associates degree in technical field, or equivalent experience.
    • Three to five years of experience in a manufacturing environment required.
    • Solid knowledge of manufacturing and engineering processes
    • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings
    • Experience with PLC based controls a plus
    • Technical writing experience a plus

Physical Requirements:

During the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, climb, carry and drive. Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

This position is primarily performed out of the company head office, which is a climate controlled, clean and neat working environment. Desk, workstation, desk chair and all available tools are in excellent condition. This job will require an average of 25% travel, which could be 0%-50% at any given time. The working conditions within a poultry processing facility (at our customers) can be cold or hot and damp / wet. Visits to our customer locations will require the use of personal protection devices (ear plugs, hard hat, and eye protection).
