About the Job:

Success as a Technical Lead will require forward thinking and technical savvy. This full-time role will help build the team and software architecture to support and grow the Baltimore Banner. This position will be based out of the Baltimore Banner headquarters, which is located along the beautiful Inner Harbor of downtown Baltimore! This is a highly impactful position in a high-growth environment fueled by engineering and product leaders from leading organizations. You will be encouraged to bring innovative ways to solve problems that advance the business strategies of our news organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical expert for self-organized and empowered Agile team
  • Responsible for managing Kanban or scrum processes for delivering high-quality software products
  • Mentors and trains team members on design and coding
  • Reviews architecture and codebase from time to time and contributes to shaping the technical roadmap
  • Effectively collaborates with counterparts in product management, marketing, and other related areas of business

Requirements:

  • Overall, 5+ years of software development
  • 3+ years building websites and highly scalable web-applications
  • Experience with Agile software development process (Scrum, Kanban etc.)
  • Experience with JavaScript Frameworks (ReactJS or Angular or any other) and/or NodeJS
  • Experience working in a distributed architecture
  • Experience working in a distributed team environment
  • Experience with cloud architectures (AWS – preferred)
  • Former experience with content management systems (CMS) is not mandatory but highly desirable
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related engineering field
