JOB SUMMARY:

The Team Lead ensures that In-Shape provides an environment that is clean, safe, and enjoyable for club members and team members. This role is part of the club Leadership team and focuses on the success and profitability of the club through delivery of an excellent club experience, retention of club and team members; as well as managing effective expense controls.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Provide a safe and well-maintained environment through correct implementation of safety and operating policies and procedures
  • Responsible for following and ensuring club team understands and adheres to the In-Shape Clean Approach
  • Assist in building our In-Shape community of members through a consistent member experience
  • Model team member behaviors to increase Net Memberships through achieving goals, improving retention, and driving ancillary revenue
  • Subject Matter Expert on In-Shape’s Join and Welcome experience
  • Manage existing club schedules in partnership with the GM and address coverage needs due to absences
  • Serve as an ambassador for the team and communicate feedback from the field to General Manager
  • Understand club operations and able to cover shifts and give direction when necessary and in the absence of the General Manager and/or Assistant General Manager
  • Assist with training of new and current team members and ensure communication cascades as needed
  • Support club team with marketing initiatives, programs, and social media accounts at the club level to generate retention and conversion
  • Assist the General Manager to achieve club financial performance
  • Partners with General Manager to maintain Club supplies inventory and stock levels
  • Assist in identifying positive trends and areas of opportunity
  • Additional supportive duties when acting as manager on duty:
  • Address team member schedule issues
  • Lead club operations to ensure member expectations are met
  • Drive sales, especially during weekends
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities assigned

Requirements:

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS – HERE’S WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • High School Diploma or GED required, college degree in business, retail or hospitality desired
  • Passion for helping others achieve their goals
  • Prior supervisory experience in a service industry preferred
  • Desired knowledge, experience, and understanding of fitness including equipment, personal training, and group fitness
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Risk Management oriented
  • Flexible/positive attitude in meeting and exceeding members expectations
  • Excellent communication skills, work well under pressure and time constraints and displays positive behavior in all member contacts
  • Outstanding organization and strong time management skills
  • Excellent task completion and follow-through
  • Attend and participate in required meetings and trainings as needed
  • Ability to travel occasionally for company meetings and based on business needs
  • Willing and able to work a flexible shift: evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Bilingual skills a plus
  • Current CPR or ability to pass CPR certification within 60 days of hire date

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to walk and stand up to 8 hours/day; sitting is seldom to occasional. Team members may be exposed to cleaning chemicals or airborne particles and will be required to wear designated PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as directed. Team members are occasionally required to use hands and fingers for handle or feel; occasional reach, push and pulling with arms and hands; occasional climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and occasional reach and twist, including side-to-side movements. The team member may be required to occasionally lift, carry or move up to 25 pounds and may seldom be required to lift, carry or move 26-50 pounds.

During the COVID-19 pandemic: All In-Shape Team Members may be required to assist with greeting members to perform temperature checks and health screens, ensure members practice physical distancing and monitor cleaning of equipment after each use. Detailed instructions will be provided at time of hire.

In-Shape Team Members will be required to comply with company policies regarding the use of PPE (personal protective equipment), by following instructions and outlined safety guidelines, to protect our team and club members. Club Safety training and equipment will be provided. Team Members are to report to management, or designated team member, any safety risks or potential risks identified in the work environment.
