Location: New Orleans, LA

Georges Enterprises, a Louisiana-based company with investments in diverse business sectors, is seeking a self-motivated individual that is detailed oriented and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field;
  • CPA designation or actively working towards a CPA license;
  • 3+ years of relevant experience is required;
  • Experience in a public accounting is preferred;
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse group of individuals;
  • Knowledge of Internal Revenue Code and Regulations is required;
  • Must possess a high degree of professionalism;
  • Computer proficient with respect to Microsoft Office Suite and tax software applications;
  • Must be highly organized;
  • Must possess critical thinking skills

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares and files federal and state income tax returns in compliance with federal and state tax laws and regulations
  • Accurately and timely prepares federal and state income tax estimates to avoid tax penalties and interest charges
  • Provides guidance and planning memos as it relates to tax matters
  • Prepares income tax provisions for Corporate Taxpayers
  • Investigates tax notices received from tax authorities and prepares correspondence to address and resolve tax related issues
  • Achieves continuous professional development and remains current on the changing tax laws and regulations by attending education courses, webinars, etc.
  • Supports senior management via participation in miscellaneous tax and financial projects as they arise
  • Provides tax documents to members, bankers, attorneys, etc. upon request


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Although this position requires oversite of various accounting practices as outlined herein, there is no direct supervision of employees

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands of this job include light physical activity performing activities of an administrative, productive and/or technical nature that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must regularly talk or hear and reach with hands or arms. The employees must frequently stand, walk, and use hands to touch, handle or feel. The employee must occasionally sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift up 10 pounds and up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. This position requires prolonged sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee may occasionally work in wet humid conditions, near moving mechanical parts, in high precarious places, with fumes or airborne particles, in outdoor weather conditions, in extreme cold, in extreme heat and with vibration. The noise level of the work environment is moderate.
