SUMMARY:
Assists with tax planning and implementation, serves as a resource to the organization, conducts tax research, highly competent as a reviewer of Forms 1040, 1041 and 990-PF’s, interacts with professional advisors and represents taxpayers during examinations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts tax research and prepares tax memos.
  • Identifies tax planning opportunities.
  • Reviews Forms 1040, 1041 and 990-PF’s and workpapers.
  • Assures that all Forms 1040, 1041 and 990-PF’s are filed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Serves as a resource to management and peers.
  • Mentors, trains, supervises, motivates, and develops staff.
  • Assigns duties and monitors quality of work.
  • Provides day-to-day guidance and oversight of staff.
  • Facilitates positive team culture.
  • Assists with IRS and state tax audits.
  • Manages collaboration with external consultants and advisors.
  • Assists with special projects as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CPA; bachelor’s degree in accounting required
  • MST or advanced degree preferred
  • Seven to ten years related experience or equivalent
  • Highly competent in tax laws
  • Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work with all levels of management
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
