Hours: Monday-Friday - 8am-4:30pm

In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the System Administrator’s role is to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support core organizational functions. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all networked software and associated operating systems. The System Administrator will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.

Job Requirement:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or related field and 3 years of related experience; or 6 years of related experience in lieu of degree with a High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Proven experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of systems, applications, and related products
  • Proven experience with systems planning, security principles, and general software management best practices
  • Understanding of VMware, Windows Servers and Active Directory
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Availability for on-call rotations and related overtime work as required
  • Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required
  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Job Functions:
1. Monitor existing systems to ensure structural integrity
2. Oversee the development and installation of new hardware and software
3. Install and configure operating systems and other software and routinely test installed software for error detection and other issues
4. Ensure 24x7 availability of technical resources
5. Design and implement security systems and backups to maintain data safety
6. Write custom scripts to reduce the need for human intervention
7. Conduct research on products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts
8. Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to procure system-related products and services
9. Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems
10. Design and perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the organization’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies
11. Ensure system connectivity of all servers and applications
12. Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records
13. Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems
14. Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems
15. Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports
16. Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Compensation Details: Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. Minimum hiring rate for this position is listed below.
