Borton-Lawson is seeking a Survey Assistant to join our team in Wexford, PA. The Survey Assistant will primarily assist in the execution of projects across the United States. This individual will also contribute to delivering next level innovative solutions to our clients. The ideal candidate would possess knowledge the various reality capture technologies and some surveying techniques.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes the following, other duties may be assigned):
  • Executes project tasks and administrative tasks as assigned
  • Perform Reality Capture field work
  • Perform boundary, site surveying, construction stakeout, 3D scanning, and drone mapping
  • Assist Crew Chief with daily tasks
  • Compile raw data after field work
  • Communicate with PM/Designers about job scope
  • Perform data processing as necessary
  • Adhere to all company and client safety procedures and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Assisting team with product/solution development
  • Stays abreast of technology in the industries and facilitate team discussions based on industry knowledge

Required Skills

Required Experience
  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Surveying and 0-4 years surveying experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in the principles of land surveying
  • Ability to document data, write reports and communicate findings
  • Current FAA-107 UAS license or plans to obtain
  • General knowledge of drone technologies, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office suite
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently
  • Must be able to work overtime as required
  • Valid Driver's License required

Anticipated Working Conditions

  • Must be willing and able to do travel, potentially as much as 50%
  • Exposure to outdoor elements (cold, rain, snow, heat)

Physical Requirements

  • Standing or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Must be able operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs at times
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
  • Some bending, crouching, or crawling may be required
